Welcome To North Texas, Ronald Mcghee?

Recommended Posts

OK. Sounds like a nice player. This is the last scholly we had available right? Edwards & McGhee take Tramiel's & Matlock's schollies, right?

So now what?

We no longer go after Olekaibe/Matt Pressey/Donald Williams/Chris Babb?

Well, we oversigned last time we went to the Dance. Let's just see.

Of the signees listed by Scouts, McGhee would be the 4th highest rated player to sign in the SBC behind:

Dominique Fergeson, FIU, Grade 95

Brandon Peters, WKU, 89

Stephon Drane, WKU, 89

And by comparison, Holmen was graded a 79 last season.

Scouts also has him as the 5th best prospect in the state of Louisiana. As I recall, Josh White was 9th or 10th the year he came out.

Welcome Ronald McGhee. Several interesting things when looking at the roster of his high school team:

1) He is one of two captains on the team.

2) He is listed as SG, SF on the roster, so his time at the point appears to be limited.

3) Averaged 4.0 rebounds a game as the 2nd tallest player on the roster. This may be misleading, since there was a 6'4", 245lbs guy listed, but is a little concerning.

He's averaging 22 a game, you have to like that. And then the fact that he is 6'6 is a huge plus. We are losing the majority of our team next season, but you still have to like the way this team is shaping up for the future. It'll be interesting to see what JJ does with those 23 ships that are opening up after next season.

Very nice pickup. We really needed to a guy who can fill it up from the outside, and possibly be a "go to guy" type scorer for three years. Is he six three or six six? Quite a range in height I'm seeing..

Recruiting services that have him listed from way back (judging by articles) had him starting out at 6'3". Rivals or Scout.com has him at 6'4". ESPN has him at 6'5". His dad told Vito that he's still growing, and he's currently 6'6".

By the time he gets here he'll be bigger than Andre the Giant. Or, he'll settle out somewhere at 6'5" or 6'6".

Vito has another blog update that mentions McGhee is still growing (up to 6'6" now) and that Texas was starting to show interest.

Vito also said that Edwards is 6'9 ... I like that our guys keep growing. Maybe next year Josh can reach 6' !!
