During the latest tour of Fouts, Villarreal made the following comments. KNTU 88.1 provided the audio, which appears on the North Texas Daily web site.

"We keep saying our football program sucks...well it does. I'd be the first to tell you I'm embarrassed as anybody as to how we're playing right now. But the reality is we're not going to get any better until we make changes and support the program. If we want to continue to get worse, and that's how we want people to look at us, then we can keep going down this road, because it's not going to get better."

Our football "team" doesn't "suck." What kind of "negative" statement is that? I'm tired of these negative "comments" no matter how grounded in hard, cold, unshakeable "reality" they may be. I say enough of negative reality! I want only happy reality! Bright shiny happy happy joy joy reality! You've got to "keep" the faith"!"

It's onward and upward! The road is turning our way! I feel a "comeback" coming this week! I say the FUTURE IS NOW, despite the so-called "theories" of Mr. Einstein and the violation of the "laws" of the space-time continuum and the fact that if the future is now then now is the future and that means we'll still be getting out ass kicked next year and next year and NEVERMIND ALL THAT 'cause the "winning" begins this week!

Good for RV! Now, if he can just find a donor to buy out the rest of Todd Dodge's contract and hire his old USM buddy Jeff Bower...well, things would be peachy. :ph34r:

(And somehow lure Steve Logan back to these here parts to coach the offense and Tim Billings to coach the defense...please, I've been a good boy this year, Santa) :rolleyes:

      Morris didn't say anything that most of us haven't already said or felt. Quite frankly, what he said has been true for a lot longer than many of us want to admit. Our lack of commitment to athletics (whether you want to blame it on administration, students, alumni, or realistically all of the above) has set us back and has been an issue for years. It still hasn't changed, and it's going to continue to come back to bite us for years to come. There has to be a clear divide at some point, even though I would argue there's been a fuzzy divide for a long time. It's just a matter of time at this point that it becomes crystal clear. We are not going to be in the top tier of that divide. Our stakeholders (I use this broadly and there are clear exceptions) have made that choice over however many years now. It's just going to finally come to a head.

      If the basis for this is simply "not Power conference", then sure. The scholarship allotments suggest difference is level of play, though. I know NIL has negated a lot of that at the current P5/G5 level, but I would think that once you get past a certain point, outside the bubble of the P4, the impact of NIL could be watered down and you will still see scholarship limits play into the level of competition in front of you.

      After UAB swept us in the regular season, then proceeded to win more games we needed them to lose, and lose games we needed them to win, it's nice for ECU to put an end to their season. Hopefully we can win our fourth straight against the Pirates tomorrow.
