So What Was Clay Jennings' Too-good Opportunity?

I would have had no problem if it were a Big XII school, but this is a little disappointing:

From Star-Telegram Confidential:

Former Baylor cornerbacks coach Clay Jennings has been in to interview at TCU for their CB coaching position. He spent the past year at Baylor and was at Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, Sam Houston State and Southern Arkansas (and other schools) before that. Jennings went to high school in Waco, and he played college ball at North Texas (defensive lineman 1992-95).

Clay has no reason to be sorry for keeping his career going in the positive direction. Clay is a class dude and deserves to go wherever HE believes his best opportunity to succeed (in t he future) and I guess that is TCU.

Also 40K difference in salary offer from TCU vs NT, and he still took a $60K pay cut from his BU salary. NT wanted him to cut it $100K. We are not even remotely competitive in coaches' salaries. The admins need to decide to fund this program if they want to SEIOUSLY COMPETE IN D-1. And no unlike SMU it did not take well healed alums to make a competitive offer for a good assistant, their administration knows where they want their program to go and backs it up with a real athletic budget not just lip service. Ours even fears its' students when it comes to doing the right thing and raising the athletic fee., but has no problem surcharging alums for season tickets, even though this should have been done long ago. You still get what you pay for, if you don't think so watch June Jones NEXT YEAR @ SMU---no 3 to 5 year plan for Mustangs. Unlike NT they plan to win NOW!!

Amen to this. How can the students get on board with the programs if the 'Higher ups' arent.

NT should raise coaches salaries, build a fantastic stadium, and cut out the money games. Now, we have given the administration all these great free ideas, all they have left to do is figure out how to fund them.

get the Eagles and Meatloaf to put on a benefit concert for the Mean Green...$50 tickets...or i guess we could invest $ on tickets and win the Megamillions jackpot
