surely we can find someone to invest in UNT football...right?? Building a mountain and a ski resort in Texas?? Maybe if all GMG members promise to spend a weekend at the resort, they'll donate $20 million to UNT as a gesture of kindness?? :ph34r:

Some of you may have heard about this idea back in April when it aired on FOX 4 News.

According to this article in Commercial Property News, the resort could be located at the site of the former Intel Corp. land at Alliance in Fort Worth. Alliance is a 17,000-acre mixed use master planned development with a large intermodal hub along Insterstate 35. The 527-acre site, located at the intersection of Eagle Parkway and Interstate 35W, was abandoned in 2000. The plans had been for a $1.3 billion semiconductor plant in 1998.

This story says they are trying to line up $700 million for this project.

As crazy as it sounds, apparently this project is moving forward: Snowflex

It is going to be on Interstate 35W just south of Denton in the Allience Airport & Texas Motor Speedway area.

Bear Fire Resort

Who would ever have thought that all those cattle pastures at the Denton/Tarrant County line would someday become a tourist mecca. The Perot Group purchased all of it during the late 1980s and is making some really interesting developments.

They say 90% of your body heat is lost through your head... so I believe I can ski naked as long as I have a really good hat!

It's something that's definitely been done before. In Taos, I forgot if it's opening or closing weekend, several people traditionally ski Al's Run (which is directly under the chair lift) every year.

      Unfortunately this comment by the head coach at UNT is going to appear defeatist and will do nothing to motivate students, fans or players. Wish it had been some other school’s head coach. Awful publicity for UNT.

      Morris didn't say anything that most of us haven't already said or felt. Quite frankly, what he said has been true for a lot longer than many of us want to admit. Our lack of commitment to athletics (whether you want to blame it on administration, students, alumni, or realistically all of the above) has set us back and has been an issue for years. It still hasn't changed, and it's going to continue to come back to bite us for years to come. There has to be a clear divide at some point, even though I would argue there's been a fuzzy divide for a long time. It's just a matter of time at this point that it becomes crystal clear. We are not going to be in the top tier of that divide. Our stakeholders (I use this broadly and there are clear exceptions) have made that choice over however many years now. It's just going to finally come to a head.

      If the basis for this is simply "not Power conference", then sure. The scholarship allotments suggest difference is level of play, though. I know NIL has negated a lot of that at the current P5/G5 level, but I would think that once you get past a certain point, outside the bubble of the P4, the impact of NIL could be watered down and you will still see scholarship limits play into the level of competition in front of you.

      After UAB swept us in the regular season, then proceeded to win more games we needed them to lose, and lose games we needed them to win, it's nice for ECU to put an end to their season. Hopefully we can win our fourth straight against the Pirates tomorrow.
