We are that bad. Eight freaking turnovers we get and we win by 3-only because FIU missed a FG late in the 4th.

This is so stinkingly bad.

I am sitting here incredulous at our ineptness.

How can this be? After four conference championships? After the new, improved facilities?

The penalties, the ineffective offense?

Our luck DD will win the SBC again (unimpressively I might add) and we are stuck with him another decade. Can't he just go away?

This just palin sucks. Yes, I said that after a win.

Most definitely a big, big problem that is going to have to be addressed in a very big way once and for all. Back at my Texas 2A HS, we had to run bleachers if we caused a penalty, jumped off sides, etc, etc, etc. Thank God the bleachers at that small Texas HS weren't that steep. rolleyes.gif Silly as it sounds, though, it cut back on our penalties (especially my own as a safety).

Anyone want to defend our strength and conditioning staff? Other than our complete and total offensive ineptness, I just don't understand how our guys in the trenches can look so damn weak! We look outmanned every game! I am very happy with the win, but the next level for us is a LONG way away. Congrats to the LB's and DB's for a pretty solid game! Without their solid play it would of been a runaway loss. I think I'll spend the last weekend of October down in Big Bend. The media coverage out there is very limited. sad.gif

FIU has not been playing football for 4 years, competitively. They have been playing for 3 years and 4 games going into this game tonight. They started up their program in September, 2001 and spent that fall season scrimmaging each other every other saturday.

With Troy getting beat up, and almost everyone who won in conference now with a loss, NT is right back up there.

Not in the drivers seat, but not at the bottom of the pile either.

No teams with overall winning record.

Part of that is the weakness of the conference.

A lot of that is the teams played in OOC games. Those include Texas, Arkansas, K-State, Tulsa, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas Tech (I think someone from SBC played Tech). There are a lot more I am missing. But you get the point.

      Morris didn't say anything that most of us haven't already said or felt. Quite frankly, what he said has been true for a lot longer than many of us want to admit. Our lack of commitment to athletics (whether you want to blame it on administration, students, alumni, or realistically all of the above) has set us back and has been an issue for years. It still hasn't changed, and it's going to continue to come back to bite us for years to come. There has to be a clear divide at some point, even though I would argue there's been a fuzzy divide for a long time. It's just a matter of time at this point that it becomes crystal clear. We are not going to be in the top tier of that divide. Our stakeholders (I use this broadly and there are clear exceptions) have made that choice over however many years now. It's just going to finally come to a head.

      If the basis for this is simply "not Power conference", then sure. The scholarship allotments suggest difference is level of play, though. I know NIL has negated a lot of that at the current P5/G5 level, but I would think that once you get past a certain point, outside the bubble of the P4, the impact of NIL could be watered down and you will still see scholarship limits play into the level of competition in front of you.

      After UAB swept us in the regular season, then proceeded to win more games we needed them to lose, and lose games we needed them to win, it's nice for ECU to put an end to their season. Hopefully we can win our fourth straight against the Pirates tomorrow.
