  1. Clearly the coaching and overall defense made the difference tonight. Even last year the offense was okay, but what an improved defense.
  2. Yes, but how far into the future have they agreed to play us in all sports?
  3. Day or night I'll take Dos Equis Lager Beer every time. In fact a lot of Mexican beers are quite good. Anyone else have a Mexican favorite beer?
  4. Any fans watching out here in Arizona? And what time would it start here?
  5. Just think about the many famous statements when using a bad word was appropriate: "What the @#$% was that? Mayor of Hiroshima, 1945 "Where did all those @#$% Indians come from?" Custer, 1877 "Where the @#$% are we? Amelia Earhart, 1937 "Any @#$%ing idiot could understandthat." Einstein, 1938 and finally...... "Aw c'mon. Who the @#$% is going to find out?" Bill Clinton, 1997
  6. I can remember when I had family connections with the Cowboys, and certain quality players would be "hidden" to be drafted in later rounds. I knew the scout and he explained that some deals get put together when the players are just juniors and, well, have things changed so much since then? {:-) I recall one player who was advised to attend New Mexico U. and was told the Cowboys would draft him. Remember the name?
  7. Isn't it interesting that the latest poll shows Idaho just a spot below the three teams that have local connections from now and the recent past: North Texas, SMU, and Utah State!
  8. The college season preview isue at SI lists all the major schools in order. The #120th team is Utah State. Do you think it has anything to do with their Offensive Coordinator?
  9. Will there be window stickers large enough to cover the good looking NT Exes ones?
  10. Hey, is it possible to order a couple of lawn chairs to be shipped to me out in Arizona? If so, I'm on it! Any opinions, or store mailing address?
  11. For anyone who hasn't been to Las Cruces NM, I would suggest a visit on vacation to see the mountain areas, skiing, great food, and just a short drive to El Paso. I've seen many games in their stadium, against UNT and UNM. I used to travel in that area on business so I'm very comfortable in recommending it.
  12. Let's keep an eye on defensive end C.E.Crespin from Rio Rancho NM. I lived in that community for many years and all my contacts have favorable reports on him. You can see more in Scouts.com about him. It would be nice if we start playing defense like we mean it!
  13. Interestingly, I get UNT football games even out here in Arizona using DiectV DSL. Most times they are on FSNAZ or FSNSW.
  14. Yes. it's the one with LaDainian on the front. The article about the Mean Green does cover six pages with pictures. The theme is that our players do not expect to lose. It's very positive. Now the article title is "The Dream of the Doomed." The cover messages says, "The Mean Green of North Texas are talking the talk as they prepare for Oklahoma. Can you Game-Plan a miracle?" Even Dr. Phil as a part called "Get Real!." He has a Ph.D. in clinical psych from North Texas. We believe that strange things can happen in a game. Would you have picked Boise State to beat OU in the Fiesta Bowl?
  15. I was there in Tucson for that game and wow, we got robbed again! So close!
  16. I'll be at home sittiing in front of my HDTV with a cold "XX" in my hand, my 10pd poodle sitting on my lap and enjoying it! I'll be wearing my "Will Not Work For Anything" T-shirt I got in Algodones Mexico. Oh ya, and a dish full of guacamole, bean dip, cheese dip and an stomach acid reducing pill for halftime. Since I have a collection of ten North Texas hats I'll start with the newest and work backwards if the score goes the same way. It game will be on TV out here in Arizona on channel 642 so I won't miss a thing!! Go Mean Green!
  17. I've seen a lot of "away" games over the years. Everywhere from TCU, U of Houston, New Mexico State, OU, UNM, Nevada, Arizona U, Arizona State, Northern Arizona and probably a few others. It's always fun to visit other schools to compare facilities and cheer loudly with maybe a small handful of other fans. I highly recommend the experience and hope to continue as I get more advanced in age.
  18. Upon hearing the news about Coach Dodge at a Kia Dealership, my Kia Sorento honked its horn twice out in the driveway. Oh wait, I'll have to take over to the local dealer here in Phoenix to get it fixed. Or is there a message system in the car?
  19. My first game attended was back in 1957. Since then I've seen games, both home and away, that add up to over 50. Out of town games have been seen in Houston, Fort Worth, Lubbock, Las Cruces, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Flagstaff, Tucson, and probably a few more. They all add up to over 50, and that doesn't include basketball, softball games I've seen elsewhere.
  20. And now us poor people out in Phoenix can stop holding their breath and now must face the SA Spurs who have had their number lately. Let's hope the Suns can make history now without the Mavs!
  21. Where is Flanigan these days? Anyone know where he's working?
  22. What a fantastic thing it was to be sitting out here in Phoenix AZ and watching the entire scrimmage! It was on full screen and it it looked very well organized and many new faces popped out of the squads including Gilmore, Fitzgerald, and Fentriss. Occasionally they ran the camera over the crowd and they all seemed enthusiastic! What a difference from previous years!
  23. My choice is Urban Mayer. He has built winning teams everywhere he has coached. Quite a record of success. I hope Coach Dodge is a little bit like him.
  24. Did anyone notice a year of graduation somewhere on the ring? I lost my NTSC ring in Albuquerque many years ago. It would have had "1960" somewhere on it. Or some other means of identification. Can anyone help me out?
