Looks like coach Andy Enfield is moving up from USC to take the head coaching job at SMU.

This is Enfield's third stop as a HC, first at FGCU in the Atlantic Sun (FCS level) and then USC in the failed PAC conference (G6).

Thus SMU is his first stop at a P3 level conference, and it'll take all his skill and NIL to compete in the ACC, which currently has four teams in the sweet 16.

Enfield has BIG SHOES TO FILL following Lanier's vaunted 20 win season and almost winning a game in the AAC tourney.

I'm excited, but it's always scary to gamble on an up-and-comer.

Color me underwhelmed in the hire. 15-18 for the 2023-24 season, 105-100 PAC-12 record, and has never won any kind of championship in 11 years in the PAC-12? Sounds more like you did USC a favor.

LOL. He was 15-18 last season and on the hot seat to be fired.

Glad you found a rescue dog to lead you into the ACC basement.

Just delete it. Not our conference and they suck. We have a couple of morons from that school that need to go away. Let ‘em post this crap on the Duke or UNC board. Then again, Duke is probably leaving the ACC to get away from them.

True. Andy had an incredibly mediocre record in 11 years vs Pac12 competition and it was very obvious that his 2024-2025 squad would be challenged to even be competitive in the BIG10. He realized that he'd surely be terminated after another lackluster season. Instead of working to keep his job he cowardly jumped in the first lifeboat available.

He had previously coached at USC and was headed for the BIG 10. Now he'll be coaching at our prissy little sister school as it becomes the sad wheelless caboose dragging behind the ACC Train while the engines and lead cars all start uncoupling to escape elsewhere.

He is from Shippensburg PA, where I learned how to play to bear pong... and that milk jug beer fills at a bar were a thing.

I hate smu, but I have to hand it to you. This is first rate trolling. He stays at usc and he’s Big10…and in this mythical “big 3” without changing jobs.

Reality is that he’s avoiding a hot seat or firing and landing in a spot that likely isn’t as tough within a few years.
