Not to reignite the "Replace The Pit" argument, but...

We’re going to a Baylor game next Saturday. (Wife is a Baylor grad) they’re pretty much sold out for the rest of the season I had to buy them on the secondary market.  I think reducing the capacity is a NO BRAINER. if we have a new stadium with reduced capacity. And here’s the key. WE KEEP WINNING, the basketball games will have a FOMO aspect to them and students will brave the 15 minute walk. Those that don’t, their seat will be taken.

We seem to think of bigger capacity stadium for big events. But we need to focus on the 80% of the stadium use. Not the 20%. A new modern, 7,000 or 8,000 seat stadium with a WINNING TEAM will be great for the program.

If we ever rebuild it needs to be across the street with a bridge that goes over the road between the two. Hold tournaments and house a parking garage next to it. Would love to see a restaurant there by the dorms again people would go to after games like the old fouts field.

Please remember that in Texas state funds can't be used for athletic facilities. A compromise would to have the athletic department raise funds via donations to update the locker rooms, etc. I suggested that for basketball games we cover the top sections with tarps which are [just guessing] about 4,000+ seats to force fans down and give the arena a more intimate feel but got nowhere. This was several AD's ago so if anyone agrees they might want to bring it up with our current administration. I am really dating myself but in the original Men's Gym [aka The Pitt] students planned and committed to go to games because if they didn't there was no room at the inn. In a 10,000 seat venue there is not that commitment as seats will always be available unless you somehow reduce capacity.

Regarding a bridge, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there one already there?

Two (2) bridges already there.  Sounds like some lazy students just don't like bridges.
