800. Mayor Hudspeth made a proclamation declaring April 8 as Mean Green Day in Denton.10 points

We need to pay him what elite G5 coaches make at the very least. We need to be up there with Gonzagas, Butlers, and VCUs.7 points

I watched the live stream. All the players were there. Nice comments from Smatresk, he understands the value of athletics to the university. We’re fortunate to have him. Coach Mac is a great speaker also, he recognized all the behind the scenes crew as well as the coaches’ families that were in attendance. Hope we can keep Mac around for a while.5 points

Looks like he played DE or a stand up blitzing LB. https://www.hudl.com/profile/10254356/Siosifa-Leota4 points

I would temper that and say, "not yet." Let's achieve the prolonged success of these programs and then talk money.4 points

Not everyone can drop their previous plans to drive to UNT on a Thursday. I was there and I’ll say this. McCasland is the most friendly coach at UNT and of any that I’ve met.4 points

I think Seth is back next year barring a catastrophe. I agree with the post about last year affecting us. We had to break in a new qb, and defense without any kind of spring or really ability for the guys to get together during the summer. Our D was atrocious last year, but we also had several games without our best defensive players because of the Vid. This is just me wearing my green tinted shades, but if we are able to see 80% of the strides between year 1 and 2 as a starter that we saw from Mason, Aune could be in all conference conversations. I know that’s a big if, but the guy is more physically gifted than MF, and none of us predicted him to be the POTY his second season as a starter. So....as a long time unt fan, I’ve got to hold onto what it is that keeps us going every year.......hope. With the way he has improved recruiting, and just the overall image of unt with hs coaches and recruits, I think he is back next year unless we see a McCarthy level melt down. I completely understand the, “we should expect better” crowd. I also try to step back and be a little more objective. As Jerry Jones said about Romo, Mason Fine was a miracle. He accelerated the rebuild and made us think we arrived before we were actually ready as a program. His senior year was, no doubt, a damn shame. I do think we need to see ourselves look better coached this year. Especially on D, obviously, but I think we need to see our offense be more consistent in being able to sustain drives and not be an all or nothing offense. As “great” as our offense was last year, it was either unstoppable or unmovable. Too many times after our d gave up a score did we do nothing and give it right back to them to score again. Our offense needs to be able to consistently, AT LEAST, move the ball 30-40 yards and chew some clock on majority of their drives. I’ve been drinking a little bit, so rant over. I might have not finished my original point so, sorry for that. Also, we definitely undervalued Graham Harrell, and he is my choice for the next hc if we do replace/lose SL. Which we won’t. In general I agree with this sentiment, but let's consider a few things. First, Butler is no longer a midmajor, as they now play in the Big East. Also, Gonzaga is just about the most anomalous example of a program from a midmajor conference as one could find. VCU is a more apt comparison, but even then, if you look at what their program has done in relation to ours over the course of the past 40 years, it's not even close. We finally broke through and made it to the Round of 32, which is awesome, but VCU has done it 9 times. And, regardless, I don't think there's any chance in hell that we could be competitive with Mike Rhoades's $1.7 million salary, which would mean tripling McCasland's pay. I think a realistic starting point would be to bring him up to the top of CUSA (he's already close) HC salaries and also try to get him to the median point of pay in conferences like the Mountain West and AAC.3 points

Munoz started his round with three straight birdies, but then turned right around and bogeyed four, five and six. He is currently at +2 overall, T35.3 points

So sad we cant be better as fans, this team and coach deserved to have all 1,500 or more fans there. These guys brought pride back to the Mean Green and fans cant take an hour to thank them. For those who weren't there the coach told the story of the team and himself at practice during the rolling blackouts and pit about 30 degrees inside. These guys were dedicated to the cause. Please buy season tickets next year!3 points

I would have gone but unfortunately had a death in the family and also some other circumstances that did not allow me to get up to Denton. Grateful for this team and glad they posted this online!3 points

The attendance limit made it tough. While I probably wouldn’t have been able to make it because of work, I definitely wasn’t going to drive 2 hours if there was a chance that I was going to be turned away. Students should have packed the place...15% full of course.2 points

My guess there would be plenty, the average USA salary for this position is 133K. I know you are joking, but in general high level administrative jobs in university athletics come with good salaries and great benefits.2 points

Not sure that Defensive depth chart is accurate based on PB's new scheme and the spring game reps. PB likes playing 2 LB's and a hybrid DE instead of 3 LB's. If you look back at Baylor games and even Arizona State, expect a lot of multiple fronts and packages. The DB's will also be adjusted to fit the team they are playing. Should be exciting.2 points

Unfortunately, living 5 hours away on a Thursday is not conducive to me being there, but I watched online and it was great. I trust Grant to get us back to the dance in the next two years. Excited to drive up for some games next season.2 points

We def deserve better, and I personally think SL has set up our roster for future success. 2021 will reveal a clearer picture of how SL handles this new talent on the field. I know there's a lot of back and forth about the quality of recruits. But I feel like there's not enough discussion about how we really need SL to work out. The way I read your first post, it sounded like you hope and wish he fails.2 points

It’s over once you sign with the agent. You can enter your name in the draft and then withdraw it later, but only if you don’t sign with an agent. The moment you sign with an agent you are no longer an amateur athlete, whether you retain that agent or not.2 points

I am not sure why anyone thinks we don’t have a competent OL. Our pass defense and run blocking was so much better last year. Our OL was by far the most improved unit on the team. And maybe we end up with a new starting QB but if we do, it’s a good thing. It would mean that Ruder is as talented as advertised and beat out the returning starter. We might only win four games again next year, but I kind of doubt it. With CUSA being so inconsistent and unpredictable we are probably more likely to win 6.2 points

I was a decade after you and saw the transition from the Pit to the Super Pit. The very first game at the Super Pit was such a let down with none of the excitement of the Pit. Not to mention those orange seats... Opera and basketball have little in common but when I was director of a company in NYC, I always careful not to rent a theater that was larger than we needed, even if that meant we had to turn away guests. The cast always performed better to a packed house. I suspect that is the same for any athletics team, including basketball. Who wants to play in a 10,000 seat gym that is only 1/5 full?1 point

I like this scenario but it’s my understanding that when a player signs with an agent his collegiate status is over. With that said (!) how is Aune still playing ?1 point

DENTON – The Mean Green Scholarship Fund has announced the release of the UNiTe Initiative. The UNiTe Initiative is a 5-year strategic plan to achieve 5,000 MGSF members and raise $5,000,000 annually by 2026. The goal of the Mean Green Scholarship Fund is to help offset the annual cost of student-athlete scholarships in an effort to allow the North Texas athletic department to use those funds to improve the overall experience for UNT student-athletes in other areas such as facilities, equipment, nutrition, and travel. The support of over 1,000 MGSF donors currently assists more than 350 UNT student-athletes cover some of the costs associated with attending the University of North Texas. This support is critical in order to provide student-athletes with the necessary resources to compete nationally and within Conference USA. In 2020, North Texas Athletics' expense for student-athlete scholarships reached more than $6.3 million. Please consider making a gift to the Mean Green Scholarship Fund today and help UNT to UNiTe North Texas. To make a gift, click here.
