Not necessarily on this issue, but: THIS! The whole "you will be punishing kids who weren't there" is a crap argument. The NCAA would be punishing THE INSTITUTION!6 points
-
So they advertise "sex", black or white, to recruits at Baylor. Do they still have that "no dancing, no drinking policy" at Baylor? You know, that Baptist thingy. Note: Not trying to upset the Baptists on this board.6 points

This is awesome, truly shows how lazy RV was with scheduling when Wren does this in a few months.6 points

I would be happiest if they shut the whole Baylor thing down. Not just the athletics; the whole thing.5 points

well you can keep the recruits and keep benford, or lose benford and possibly lose the recruits. Time has shown even with good recruits we can't win with our coach, I say roll the dice.4 points

My comments weren't directed toward this particular situation. But when it comes to Pedo St. and the massive cover up perpetrated by THE INSTITUTION, that institution should have been given the death penalty. Instead they were given nothing and suffered zero consequences. The rich rarely do4 points

Why do we make excuses for the other team? I don't remember others making excuses for us when we had QBs dropping like flies. You play with what you have when the game is scheduled.3 points

Except for the Army rematch, we were never in the games we lost. Above average is a good grade in my opinion.3 points

By pretty much tearing it all down to the foundation and rebuilding the entire structure of how college football works. Which nobody wants to even talk about, let alone actually do. Too much money involved and connected to too many people and too much money to be made off of all of it, all on the backs of a bunch of 18-22 year olds. And too many grown-ass adults with too much money who want to glorify and perpetuate jock culture that they're either long past or never got to be a part of to begin with. Here's an idea to rein in a lot of problems: Don't let athletes live off campus. Too many times have I heard of crap going down at some athlete's apartment of a house where a bunch of them live together. If they're in a dorm and have a curfew it narrows down the chances for someone to act like an idiot. I don't care if you're a senior. Let college athletes have friggin' part time jobs if they want! UNT kids stealin' TV's because they're bored, TCU kids dealin' pot because they couldn't afford gas money. How many countless times have we heard stories about athletes who couldn't afford to travel home over the winter break. And I mean like driving from Denton to Houston. Or kids who couldn't afford to eat on the weekends. It'll also set athletes up for after graduation: a lot of guys never have a real job in high school because of the protectionism people lay on high school athletes and then they're forbidden from having a job in college. That's eight years of work experience they've misses out on.3 points

I know what I'm doing for my 30th birthday! But seriously, I can't wait for the crowd of 80,000 on hand to watch North Texas whip Tech's ass at the then-recently expanded Apogee Stadium.3 points

It sounds like we are fast approaching Penn State territory. Maybe worse even. At some point the exact facts will cease to be important, bcause when the perception gets too bad, nobody can stomach the exact details anymore anyway.3 points

Not sure about drinking or dancing, but it would appear that they certainly have a no morals policy.3 points

If NCAA doesn't do anything... how can we not expect a new culture of this from football programs?3 points

Any school that allows its athletes to conduct itself in this manor, or any institution with any age, skill and occupation of human being deserves to have the hammer dropped. If it were UNT mark my words I'd advocate we're punished to the fullest extent.3 points

NCAA has to come down on this... right? Baylor is the perfect school to 'make an example' out of.3 points

First sellout in 2027?? All joking aside, this is why you hired the man, & he followed through.. Excited to welcome in some P5 competition to Apogee.. Hope this is the first of many!3 points

But I thought regional P5 teams would never come play UNT at home...3 points

UNT commit Zack Simmons posted a Triple Double 17pts 23rebs 10blks in Cedar Hill win over Duncanville last night. Have watched him progress throughout the season. (Still has work to do) I have monitored TVCC's Amaad Wainwright's stats all year, including 45 in a 3 OT win earlier this season. I plan to watch him for the 1st time against Navarro later today in Corsicana. Wonder if the pending coaching change will affect their status with the program. By my count, there are at least 2 more scholarships to offer. Good start by the new staff.2 points

Random, but this week I listened to the peach basket episode where you guys discussed the then recently broken news of Tony Mitchell enrolling at North Texas. I hope the next hire is good and exciting enough to bring you and @Censored by Laurie out of retirement.2 points

Since we are down 3 at the half, that projects as a 23 point loss by the end.2 points

It's not the campus, it's the endless losing and bad management in sports at UNT. And BTW, I attended a wedding at TWU and was not impressed with the campus. Old and in need of a major facelift. The sidewalks were terrible and a lawsuit waiting to happen.2 points

According to the rankbyoffers.com site, Baylor is ranked 84th, the lowest of any P5 team.2 points

I think it's pretty clear I am. I'm just pointing out what needs to be addressed. People are on here saying they are afraid to play Tech. In 10 years. At Apogee. I mean, if that's your standard, why the F even follow this program?2 points

Punishing Baylor is one thing. But how do you change the system . . . as in, FBS football, particularly P5 football, across the board . . . so coaches and colleges aren't tempted to tolerate, much less promote, this kind of behavior?2 points

Kid is town, not sure what was up but his flight was delayed... hopefully this is not a negative to start the visit2 points

Maybe you don't understand that he gets paid the remainder of his contract whether he is fired or not? There is no downside for him or UNT. Just can his ass already.2 points

This is great. Yes it will take ten years, but it is still a great get. Better than anything RV ever got.2 points

This would be the case. S needs to be fixed. You can't start being AD in 2022 (on this particular subject). Fix the things that are fixable. The schedule is fixable.2 points
-
I'm not blaming him for anything! God God! I'm Saying he was brought here to fix a huge mess. If he doesn't fix it, he isn't a pretty good hire. The existing schedule is part of that mess. Do you agree or not?2 points

Not sure if the NCAA can do much, but surely the Big 12 has bylaws that allow the other institutions to kick a school out of the club. Almost without exception, in the past when I have had an interaction with a Baylor grad, I always have a feeling afterwards that they were being sneaky and underhanded. I know I have just had an unusual experience and there are a lot of great alumni, but I have talked about it with my wife before due to how many similar experiences I have had. Frankly, I hope they victims sue them into bankruptcy. What a bunch of sleezeballs.2 points

I don't think there a a single reason for our issues in recruiting. I think it is a combination of things. The perception of North Texas football over the last decade hasn't helped. -Most of these recruits we around 4 years old when we went to the 2004 New Orleans Bowl. Aside from the 2013 HOD and this past season's HOD, all they know is the other 10 seasons. That can't be good for our recruiting. -Our facilities are nice, but other programs have some things we don't. That probably factors into some recruits not signing with us too. -Scheduling is also an issue. Wren did a great job of signing Tech to a home and home. That is a great start. To be honest, I think he will be working to adjust and improve the OOC schedule for the next few seasons. - Our media deal stinks. Players want to be on TV. Some of these things are out of our control. We can't change the past. The Dodge and Mac losses will always be there. The C-USA media deal will remain crappy. We don't appear to have the funds to build an indoor practice facility. We need to focus on what we do have, and develop a plan to take advantage of those assets. North Texas has a large alumni base, and we are the only public university in a region with over 8 million people that covers more then 42 thousand square miles. That means North Texas represents a larger population and a larger area then many states. I think we need to focus on signing more home and home series with P5 programs, and commit more funds to promoting North Texas throughout our region. We try to get the attention of DFW, but seem to forget Wichita Falls and Sherman are also within our territory. Both of those communities have TV stations that broadcast out around 50 miles from their locations. They need news too. Plus, both are within an hour and a half drive of Denton. We need to do more to target those communities. I believe this would have a positive impact on recruiting, attendance, and our perception within the North Texas region.1 point

I just took the time to look at our recruiting classes as far back as 2010. The three star recruits we "signed" during that time were Wheeler, Johnson, Smith, Hamilton, Jenkins Ozougwu, Dillman, McNair, Bradley, Barr, Gray, D. Smith, Bendy, Grindle, Chumley, Goree, Fonzale Davis, Ivery, Garner,Tucker, Davis, Nelson, B. Feldt, Busby, Lewis, DQ Johnson, Schrapps, Roberts, Lancaster and Dilonga. Gone/Never Got Here: Johnson, McNair, Bradley, D. Smith, Bendy, Grindle, Goree, F. Davis, Ivery, Nelson, B. Feldt, Busby, Lewis, Schrapps and Lancaster. Too Early To Tell/RS: Smith, Ozougwu Early Signs Look Positive: Hamilton, Wheeler, Jenkins Got Here But Didn't Contribute: DQ Johnson Injured/Yet to Contribute: Dillman, Chumley Remaining: Barr: Off and on starter on OL. Gray: Two year starter at safety. Very solid, but I would argue McClain (2 star) has been better. Garner: Contributed and improved a lot this year. Could be a star. Still has 2 years remaining. Tucker: Productive backup RB. Chad Davis: In and out of the starting lineup. It has been reported that he struggled with injuries the last two years. Productive, but was he our best DB? Roberts: Productive DE that had his best year as a Jr. when he led the team in sacks. Did he live up to 3 star expectations? Dilonga: Another solid, productive DE who had a combined 5 sacks his last two year. My point with this quick research is to note that ratings are just ratings, and highlights why I like to wait a couple of years before judging a class. Yes, higher rated recruits would seem more likely to become productive, but at our level of recruiting this hasn't played out, for whatever reason. The following 2 star recruits have been as good or better during the same time frame: 16: Bussey, Fine, Baulkman, Ejiya, Wilson, Muhammad, Turner, 15: Brooks, Murray, Combs, Thompson, Young, Finney, K. Smith, Woodsworth 14: Miles, Rutherford, T. Johnson, Tauaala, McClain, Moore, J. Wilson 13: McKinney, J. Jones, Schilleci, Scott, Ellis, Kidsy, Minor, Smiley, Moore 12: Wallace, Rollins, Kelly, Rentfro, C. Harris, Marshall 11: Akunne, Bellazin, Jimmerson, Lee, a. Orr, Polk, Lemon, Brooks*, Whitfield, Simpson**, Power**, Swarn** 10: Johnson, Y'Barbo, Z. Orr, Byrd, Chancellor, Wright, Abbe * Brooks said he was leaving school to become a truck driver, ended up playing at a JUCO and being pretty darn good at Baylor. Wonder if Baylor orchestrated this? **Had great offer lists. Swarn did nothing and was gone after a year or two, Sampson was a bust and Power was good, but not close to some of our more recent, and not as highly rated, TE's like Blount, Gardner, etc... Ratings are for us to argue over and beat our chest on the first February of each year. The real results show down the line.1 point
