  1. Hey GMG, I'm writing a story promoting Mean Green game days for the Denton Live magazine, looking at both the specific experience of attending a game and the atmosphere provided by Denton as a city. That's something you guys represent and can explain really well, so I was hoping to chat with a few people who actively attend games (Denton residents or not) tonight or in the next few days. All it will take is five minutes on the phone. If you can drop me a pm if you're interested and available I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks! EDIT: Thanks to those who got in touch and messaged me about this, I got everything I needed.

  2. A) You're* B ) Have you read the new regulations? It's in response to internet service providers picking and choosing which content to provide bandwidth to. For instance, Comcast, who has a streaming service of their own, could choose to slow down the streaming speed of a competitor (like Netflix). It's a fairly non-partison issue if you ask me, but just say the word "government" and panic ensues.

  3. I'm sure some of you had met Ted Papaila. He was a good fan and a great person. Instead of flowers the family would appreciate donations to American Cancer Society or the Mean Green Club.

  4. I miss the days when our players would break their hands by punching a glass window after a loss instead of breaking down each other.

  5. Don't be so quick to dismiss his thinking. It's not always easy streaming video and music at the same time and he definitely has a good amount of skin in the game here.

  8. Have you ever been to a concert and watched the band frontman wear his own band's shirt? That's what it is like to see someone post their own tweet.

  9. Remember a few months ago where Harry was having db issues for about a week or so and it took 20+ seconds to query/write posts on here? It was a virtual ghost town around here. Sounds like that would be the norm if this did not occur?

  10. And since then, Verizon challenged the rules under which those decisions were made and had them thrown out. They promptly proceeded to set up a charge with Netflix for a "fast lane" to their customers. The telecom industry has proven that they cannot be trusted. Additionally, the Internet landscape is radically different now than it was 13 years ago. You don't want government "control" (actually regulation) in favor of big business "control" (actually control). If you get your way, I sure hope that Harry is able to pay to play because if he can't, kiss this site goodbye.

  11. I'm sure he will give you a well thought out and researched opinion on the matter, and not just buzzwords like "nationalize," "freedom," and "socialist."

  12. Admittedly, I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to this... This is how I've seen it explained before. But I'd be very interested to see what kind of evidence Rick has heard that would make this a bad thing and another step towards government taking our freedoms.

  13. Well that was entertaining. Who needs Paquiau may weather when you can come to Gomeangreen.com. I must say that I have not been this interested in UNT bball in a long time. Upset utep and beat those dirtybirds from south Texas. Rivalry for me, can't stand them! GMG

  15. You can try to treat the cancer, but if it doesn't respond to treatment, you have to cut it out. If you don't, it will kill the body. From what I understand, he is a good kid off the court and especially in the classroom. All of that is terrific, but he appears to be the only one that has not bought in to the program. Whether you agree or not as a player, you have to do what your coaches want. You simply cannot have one guy running his own offense or defense. And if you can't take being removed from the game, you are not mature enough for this level of play. I hope he learns his lesson this time... but I doubt it.

  17. Hey emmitt, how about posting your thoughts as your own instead of editing mine? Regardless of where a young man plays, I feel for those that put in the work and something of this nature occurs.

  21. I'm pro-business in a lot of ways, but most government regulation is in reaction to an unfair practice that corporations took advantage of. Their responsibility is to their stock-holders not the general public at large. They balance each other out and both are necessary to keep our system functioning.

  22. It's my understanding though that if this did not occur, ISPs could regulate bandwidth for any/all websites that use their lines. So if this did not happen, as Christopher cited above, an ISP that is in competition with Netflix could severely limit the bandwidth for Netflix streaming... and that's not fair at all. I'm guessing that one example is just the tip of the iceberg. So if this needs to fall under Title II control (tbh, not sure what that is either) in order for the ISPs to be impartial to internet traffic, then so be it.

  23. 1998 and 2002 were a very different time for the internet. Are we supposed to not address change as the way content is shared changes on the internet?

  24. His only evidence is that Obama is for it. Seriously, I have pretty conservative friends who are basically championing net neutrality. A couple work in the IT industry and understand exactly what's at play here.

  25. ODU has an RPI of 41, I'd say they have a sizable chance of a 10 seed since usually the 10 seed is somewhere around the 30-40 RPI range. If they win out, they will stay in that range. La Tech is in the 50 range. They are also probably pretty close. CUSA will probably be a one-bid league this year, but it has a sizable group of major players.

  27. Yep...sorry...actually I did look at it...and I wrote it too. See, at this point...stressing over getting the t-shirts in time with all the ice days we had, getting the trophies re-done as the shop actually created cheer trophies instead of BB trophies, etc. I am going more stir crazy than I usually am.....yep...you are on white. My bad. Senior reading moment I guess....

  33. Tap the breaks there 90....Alzee has always been alzee, I believe JJ held his young African American student athletes VERY accountable, no crazy hair, no ear rings, dressed nicely, etc. more accountable than TB, NOT SAYING EITHER IS RIGHT OR WRONG. MAYBE Alzee thrived under strict supervision. He made so many questionable posts on Twitter, when I was a student, that I unfollowed him... That was the year before JJ departed...

  34. Really...did you forget that Alzee was benched and suspended? Including the Conference a Tournament game. But, never mind.....

  35. If he acts like that in the LRS that attitude can be infectious... After watching it with my eyes, I'd believe it. However, it is Benford and companies job to make him buy into team aspect... If he can't, sure move along. You can't tell me Callipari brought in all stand up guys who all got along and listened to every word, and never argued... Yet he makes it work.

  37. That's why Ok State vs OU is actually not a rivalry (because 78-18-7 in favor of OU) ,but Texas vs West Virginia is (because 2-2 against one another).

  38. Hoping he can sit the next game or two and grow from this. We will need him come conference tournament time. The seniors need to talk to him and make sure he is on track to coming back. Everyone gets benched. J Will was benched as a sophmore at times during games, but he road it well and when the time came he showed up. Our best player off the bench for UTEP is now Armani. Losing by 30 is not out of the question, but anything can happen.

  39. Do some of you not realize that the majority of each season's schedule is in place years in advance? QB play and how our new OL gels will be telling. If a QB is found and Rice and Epps are as advertised on the OL, we should be alright on the offensive side of the ball. The secondary will be the key to our defense.
