  1. Since when did guts pass talent when fans discuss players? Especially when our QB position gets discussed... Thompson is not good...not average...not decent... Doesn't make him a bad guy...hell I'm not a good QB either, nor is my brother or any of my friends...we're still ok people. BUT...I keep hearing he's got guts...he's tough...he's experienced...he bleeds green! You know what I see? Overthrow...underthrow...pick...pick 6...slow...throws off back foot... I hear the Kansas State game...they gave him the underneath stuff all night...the only passes he completed all year were underneath dinks and dunks...an extension of the run game. Check out the "highlight" clips from last year...even the completions the WRs had to be high jumping contortionists...it's horrible! I promise to be there every Saturday, but damn it may just kill me to have to watch him again this season! It's nice if your QB has "guts", its nice if he's a "gamer", but what I want most, first and foremost...TALENT throwing the ball to receivers in a position to let them make plays! THAT'S WHAT I WANT! Thompson cannot be that person

  2. Browns Defensive Coord. Ray Horton on Craig Robertson: "My ace in the hole. I watched him on film, and he was young, athletic, fast and tough. Then I saw him on the field, I saw the same things. Sometimes, [an undrafted] player falls through the cracks and he falls to you." I'm a huge Browns fan so I love seeing this UNT alum performing at a high level for my guys.

  3. Funny considering a highly regarded WR recruit committed to us this weekend.

  4. He uses the force. It's not uncommon for him to wear his helmet with the blast shield down. #jediqb

  5. No employee of North Texas should be allowed to wear gear from other universities. They live by virture of North Texas paychecks. I remember in the old days it was not uncommon to go get a concession at football and basketball games only to see the workers wearing SMU, Texas, etc. shirts. Shameful.

  7. Good! Solid pickup. 22nd ranked kicker in the country according to ESPN recruiting.

  8. Sadly, he has a point. Even more sadly, he comes to this sight to make it. Future serial killer. No one should want to "get the swagger back" to a 34 point loss. That is just plain embarrassing.

  10. I agree with UNT90...a rivalry should mean something every year, and each game should be a toss up...we need to beat the piss out of UTSA every time we play them

  11. Hoping for Rice. Large public vs small private. Houston vs the metroplex. 2 good marching bands going back and forth. Plus, they have pedigree. Lord forbid UTSA ever becoming anything other than a school we beat the crap out of EVERY time we play them and with whom we regret association.

  12. The reason why DT doesn't get interceptions is because he's throwing it to the uprights.

  14. Today I was at the library and the bookstore. I saw one lady in the library wearing a UT shirt. Then I saw a group of kids visiting UNT and in that group was a Texas Tech hat, UT hat, and a TCU shirt. I have gone to school at 4 different colleges and never have I wore team gear from one to the other. Hopefully these kids learn to GO GREEN if and when they get accepted. The lady in the library should be sent home to change.

  15. The only time I don't mind is if there's a conference or something on campus. If their school is giving ours money to host an event, I don't want to make them feel unwelcome. Barring that, a look up-and-down with a "What in the HELL are you wearing on my campus?" does seem to help.

  16. There was a coach at a university some years ago -- I forget who or where -- who banned his players from wearing other teams' shirts. I like the idea of giving an employee an ungentle reminder that that employee works for UNT and should wear either pro-UNT gear or neutral clothing.

  19. With things picking up a little but in the recruiting class of 2014 I wanted to see how you guys feel we should fill our scholarship spots. We currently have 17 scholarship seniors on our team, and about 79 players currently on scholarship. This 79 does not include Oregon transfer Anthony Wallace, who will be a part of the 2014 signing class like Darius Terrell and Reggie Pegram were last year. This 79 also does not include walk ons how may be put on scholarship this semester (i.e. Kaydon Kirby). We will lose 1 qb, 1 running back, 3 receivers, 2 tight ends, 1 o-lineman, 3 d-lineman, 2 linebackers, 3 dbs, and 1 kicker to graduation. My prediction: 23 total signees - 1 qb - 2 running backs - 3 receivers - 3 o-lineman - 1 tight end - 5 d-lineman (3 tackles, 2 ends) - 3 linebackers (including Anthony Wallace) - 3 defensive backs - 0 kickers (could get one depending on how confident Coach Mac is with Zach Paul and Travis Tamez replacing Zach Olen) - 2 athletes/best players available

  20. Amended Twice Since Posting The Original: Had your hearing checked lately, techdawg88? And......uh......you can always start with Hog Dawg as one of our non-fans. My, uh, discomfort with your school first came in 1977 when we went over to Ruston that Fall, schooled yall in that football game to the tune of 41 to 14 and then La Tech gets an Independance Bowl invite a mere few weeks later? NOTE: In fact, I believe North Texas had even been ranked as high as #16 in a poll that same season. I guess the Indy' bowl folks forgot that part, too. because I assure you La Tech had not been ranked in any NCAA D1 poll that or any other season during that era. Just 1 year before we had travelled approx. 20,000 fans down to UT-Austin to play the Longhorns off their hooves so surely the Indy' Bowl people knew that North Texas would travel well. And our being hours away from Shreveport more of our fans would have stayed in their hotels with some doing a a little gambling in their casinos with La Tech fans merely going back to their homes which I'd bet most of which were within a 1 hour radius of Shreveport. techdawg88, all that a long time ago but I assure you there are still some on this forum today who still have a very bad taste in their mouths over that total act of inter-collegiate injustice. I mean come on now, you don't invite a team that has a good reputation of travelling well and had beaten the other team that got the bowl invite, uh, 41 to 14? Our 1977 Mean Green football season with results: http://mcubed.net/ncaaf/1977/nt.shtml GMG!

  32. And I had forgotten that this moron doesn't know that "lean" isn't made out of OTC cough syrup. And, while we're assassinating the character of either party POST-verdict, let's not forget that Mr. Zimmerman was no angel prior to this altercation. http://rollingout.com/culture/george-zimmerman-son-of-a-retired-judge-has-3-closed-arrests/ http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/george-zimmerman-trayvon-martin-killer-had-brushes-prior-153033731.html I'd rather this thread just died a natural death, since we are clearly going in circles and have graduated from discussing the merits of the case to discussing whether blacks have an epidemic problem of criminality. Or, we could continue to pretend that the fact that Trayvon "might" have been making lean is comparable to several arrests for violence.

  34. One small point of clarification - the bar is named: Oak St. Draft House & Cocktail Parlor. And if you like great craft beer just wait a couple more weeks when East Side Social Club opens just a few hops from Oak St. (Corner of Austin & Oak.) In less than 500 feet you will have over 150 craft beers on tap between the two places. With no overlap. Denton may have to change its name to craft beer Nirvana.

  39. One thing is for sure, you look at that list and see names like Daniel Prior and realize that this group, as a whole, has been pretty unselfish. These are the guys who didn't balk at position changes or transfer out when the going got tough. I don't think we'll hit six wins this year. But, if we do, no one anywhere - at any school - would deserve it as much as this group. This is a group that has been through it and stuck with it. Love 'em all. Hilbert Jackson...it just doesn't seem like it's been that long, man. Hoping for the best with all of those guys.

  42. Both of those teams are well-known for what most univerisites in the state are well-knonw for--having front-runner fanbases. Its funny how far Tech has fallen back from its glory days under Leach--couldn't happen to a better bunch, either. As for SMU, well, even as they have improved under June Jones quite dramatically, to most people in Dallas and the rest of Texas, they are always going to be the team that cheated incessantly and then got left behind when the SWC disbanded. Hard to draw crowds in Dallas, TX when you don't really matter anymore...
