Not that it should be done in a harsh way, but I don't have a problem with a coach being honest with a kid and telling the kid that if he wants to play, he is going to have to transfer. Is it kinder to leave the kid at the end of the bench for 4 years? Scholarships are year to year, for the athlete and the school. Is anyone crying because TM will leave to go pro at the end of the year? No. And they shouldn't be. It's a 2 way street, as it should be.4 points

Reading anything GL2G posts is a complete waste of time. Just FYI. Troll of the lowest order.4 points

The kid has played and lived less than 3 hours from home his entire life. All the sudden, he is a thousand (at least) miles from home in a city that is way different than where he grew up. If anything, I give the kid credit for realizing that he had made the wrong decision quickly and getting out of there without wasting any more of anyone's time.3 points

To soothe the fact that they should have been selected for CUSA ahead of UTSA, Charlotte, and Old Dominion. You guys are true sportsmen. At least you haven't wished their university to burn to the ground or that they drop to Division III. Why any bitterness toward Middle Tennessee or Bensen? The commissioner thought enough of us that he thought that we might be able to save the WAC. I consider it a compliment.2 points

I have always considered UH very similar to UNT. Both schools have similar enrollments and average SAT scores. Both have a large amount of commuter students. And, each desperately want to be more respected in the State and Nation. Still the longer that I have lived down here I have realized that UH leads UNT by a mile in the all important category of money. UH has alot more wealthy alumni (some thanks to the oil boom) and they give both to the school and athletics. It is imperative that UNT catches up in the financial arms race if we really think we are going anywhere.2 points

Would be interesting to see him play with TM. He's got a body to bang inside and a shot on the outside. Someone like that could help relieve the double teams on TM. This post has been promoted to an article2 points

MTSU has won the all-sports trophy more often than not lately. So, by that logic, I suppose they are the flagship.2 points

I followed TJ throughout high school at Denison, he is a tremendous talent. Never heard anything about him being a "problem". I don't know what his situation is now other than possibly being homesick. Would love to see him in green!1 point

Not even remotely close to being a Spurs fan, but if you don't like watching them play, then I don't know what to tell you. Their offense is run to absolute perfection, because everyone of their guys is a willing and able passer. They get more open shots/layups/dunks than any team in the NBA because their offense is run so smoothly. What's not exciting about that? Sure, athletic teams are fun to watch, but you know what is more fun to watch? Winning. Also, I wasn't even laughing that you think they'll make the playoffs. I was laughing at the fact that you think CJ Miles and Anthony Randolph are difference makers. Miles played 20 minutes per game on a team with atrocious guard play, and shot 38% from the field. As for Randolph, well, I guess he was good in college.1 point

Anyone know of a link that provides mp3s of UNT sounds of the game? I'm getting tired of scoring a touchdown and not hearing our fight song.1 point

Good place for him. I've seen him play since he was a freshman. I hope he is a starter and 4 year letter winner for them. I also hope $MU doesn't cancel any of those games. Go Mean Green.1 point

It happens every year at bigger schools. You just see it as "player leaves for personal reasons ". In reality , a coach says to the player " you know , I just don't see any PT for you here" If there is a more talented player out there , a coach will find a way to make it happen. Example : Michael Bradley1 point

Without looking , I think Tech & SMU both have room. Somone can correct me if I'm wrong. Believe someone just left the Red Raiders *Edit Red Raiders do not have the room.1 point

Benford is not going to takeway anyones scholarship. No coach in his right mind could do that to his reputation. Taylor can either -go to a JUCO and continue his degree, get picked up on scholarship but lose a year -go home and wait until he can be picked up on a full ride scholarship somewhere, keeping a year of eligibility -walk-on and cover the costs for a year1 point
-
So, if this kid is so solid, why has he gone from OU to Juco to Margette to nowhere???? Is he a "problem" looking for a home? Just asking.1 point

Come September, will there be dead animals smoking over hickory and ice chests full of fermented goodness followed by the skin of an unfortunate porcine flying through the air? Yes? Fantastic. Then I really don't care what you call it.1 point

I don't know Roderick's financial situation, but I do know that he came from Oak Cliff Life School. Usually folks in Oak Cliff (non-Kessler Park residents) are not financially stable enough to tote a semester's worth of education out of pocket. Just redshirt him and keep him on scholarship. I have a feeling Roderick will pay off in the future.1 point

Too bad. I heard they considered making it look like a Cougar's cleavage, but the extra support required was cost prohibitive.1 point

I know TJ didn't care for him too much. That doesn't really mean anything. I have no idea who was right or wrong in that whole ordeal . Capel could be a good guy for all I know1 point
-
Yep. OU boosters paying players... what else is new up there? Whether or not Capel knew is almost irrelevant to our situation as we don't really have that kind of booster @ UNT (The stupid-rich, brazen kind)... but, it still has to be in the back of RV's mind when considering him. I think a guy with program-building HC experience (VCU), Power-6 HC experience (OU), and a stint as an assistant under coach K. has got to be a person you take a close look at, if not favor.1 point

The reasons to hire coach Forrest are named Mitchell, Williams, & Jones. He's an ace recruiter with remarkable ties to local AAU and High School coaches. It would be a shame to lose those ties. Also, the players love him. The reason NOT to hire coach Forrest is his lack of Head Coaching Experience.1 point
-
My memory may be off , but didn't Capel have a mass exit of players & pos record after the ncaa found out kids were getting paid ? I know he was never implicated of anything , but I have a hard time believing the head coach didn't know this was going on Someone refresh my memory here1 point

Kind of find it odd that we can get an ACC head coach to coach our women's team, but have to go with a "meh" hire for a team that could crack the Top 25 next season.1 point
