Worried About Student Turnout

Honest question: How many signs were up in local-area businesses? Is Denton ever going to support its college?

Turnout should be good. I know some professors have cancelled class and offered extra credit to students who bring their ticket for the game in next week to prove they went. My concern is the blackout part. We've been encouraged to wear black, green, or a costume. No no no. If you want a blackout game, only encourage black. Kind of a bad blackout game choice with it being Halloween. If we want the party goers to come to the game, they need to wear the costumes they've been looking forward to wearing all year or they'll just skip for a party. Pumped for the game. I think turnout will be either really great or really poor. No in between. We just need to get that place loud and send Rice back home with their heads between their legs.

Most were wearing nothing besides normal clothes. A few kids in some North Texas gear, but more in costumes. But not much of either. Vast majority was just regular clothes.

Really hope I am just reading to much into this. Student attendance will have to be big tonight. I know of several diehards who just can't make this game tonight because of kids/school/Halloween stuff.

Its Halloween dude. If you were a student, especially a girl, wouldn't you rather wear your costume to class rather than a green or black shirt? Don't get your panties in a wad tonight too when people wear costumes to the game. How dare they wear a costume on Halloween!

You know how I know you didn't read the thread?

When I said very few people were dressed up in costumes. Or anything besides normal everyday clothes.

I will say I walked into Bruce cafeteria for a late lunch and there was a higher percentage of both NT Gear and costumes then I saw in the morning. Still, a minority, but at least not "almost no one".

If student turnout is good I will be happy, very happy to come in here during the game and post I was wrong.

I think we will see a "normal" turnout from students. I offered my students a free assignment if they can demonstrate they attended the game. Most have plans to attend.

However, I think the alumni/folks with kids will be lacking due to Halloween. I know so many season ticket holders that will not be attending due to "trick or treat" duties in local neighborhoods. UNT did good by having Halloween activities at the stadium, but most kids have been planning a neighborhood candy attack for months. Additionally, the game is on T.V. I think some fans will cave to the pressures of Halloween and volunteer to hand out candy to kids while watching the game. Win-Win.

Also, I teach a class of all females. Most were planning on wearing costumes to the game. In fact, several had plans for multiple costumes. I also saw a dude on campus today wearing a Miley Cyrus (VMA) costume. Very disturbing.

I think some of the students feel like I am calling them out. I am not. Alumni attendance will be a problem tonight. I was expecting a big student turnout to save us.

I felt really good about that until I saw no signs of any NT gear today.

I won't be there but I got six others to go. Three FF's from my station. Two alumni and a season ticket-holding Aggie and all their wives.

The students really showed up! Amazing and electric atmosphere! Alumni, not so much but still "good" for UNT. Homecoming should have great attendance!

Kerr has been renovated, Bruce has been renovated and is currently being expanded.

Neither are the Reata, but they do not suck, and for dorm food they are awesome.

I miss those square pizzas.
