2013 HS - Marcus Foster - 6'1" SG

Recommended Posts

November 7th writeup on Foster from the Elite 14 showcase. Includes the following assessment:

Foster currently sits outside of the [Rivals national top 150] 2013 rankings but the 6-foot-2 three-star shooting guard is certainly making a case to be included next time around. He can shoot with deep range, is an intense competitor, has a body that will allow him to compete at the next level and he can create his own offense.

TexasHoops article from the Elite 14 identifies Foster as a 3-star prospect (not yet updated?) and lists offers from: North Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Creighton, and Houston, with additional interest from Baylor, SMU, and others.

Metroplex Hoops reported in September that Foster took an unofficial visit to Oklahoma for their football game against Tulsa.

Got a chance to see Foster this weekend @ the fantasy of lights. Very smart player. Knows when to pass & knows when to shoot. Several times on fastbreaks he passed it off to the open man instead of forcing the shot. Very fundamental. Has a very nice stroke from the outside. Will defentitely play the 2 at the next level. Not bad handles, but not great. Hope to see him again on Jan 6th vs Argyle

With one remaining opening for their 2013 recruiting class, Creighton has been targeting explosive guards this summer. Two players that have seen a tremendous amount of attention from CU coaches on the AAU circuit in July have now set their official visits to Omaha.

Guards Marcus Foster of Texas and John Dawson of New Mexico will be on campus in September for a first hand look at the Bluejay program. TheBluejaycafe.com has learned that Foster will be in town from September 14th to 16th while Dawson will take his visit either from September 20th through 22nd or September 21st through 23rd.

Creighton could also see an official visit from Texas guard Shirmane Thomas soon as well. There was an erroneous report on Twitter Sunday that claimed Thomas had committed to Creighton. That report was pulled back quickly after it was released.

The Bluejays are expected to enter the upcoming season ranked in the Top 25 and have three commitments for their 2013 class already.

Down to Creighton & K State

Foster is expected to be a legit combo guard in college, and had offers from Oklahoma, SMU, TCU and California. He nearly averaged a double-double as a junior, averaging 24.4 points, 9.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. Throughout his process, Foster had interest from Oklahoma State, Baylor, North Texas, Missouri and some others.
