Goal Posts Are Up!

Glad to see them up. It gives reference point for gauging the size of our new video board. Goal posts are a little over 23" wide. The space between the pillars is about twice that of the posts. It looks like the board will be between 48" to 50" wide and about 25" tall. Does that sound about right to you guys? Anyone with some inside information?

That structure will also house the 70ft speaker towers on each side. The screen will be in the middle of the two towers.

I think that's what he meant, not sure though. I'm going to try and find the true answer tomorrow.

After doing some measuring and stuff with digital images, it looks like it will be somewhere around 40' X 20'....still hoping for a little bigger than that though. For perspective, the new video board at ULM will be double that size if those are in fact the dimensions.

but that's a fun ass roadtrip that everyone should make. the stadium is decent, the tailgating great!

I would rather it be in scale with the stadium and not the biggest just to be the biggest.

I want it to be big enough to see the replay clearly, but not so big as to lead to people watching the video instead of the game on the field (like at the Cowboys Stadium).

If you go back and look at the scoreboard before they put the backing on, you can see the square components that make up the scoreboard. Those squares were 8' by 8' and inside the towers were 4 squares high and 6 squares across.

There doesn't seem to be much space behind the far goal post and the wall behind it. Has anyone been out there to see how much space there actually is? If they don't put padding on the brick wall it could lead to some sudden, painful stops on long passing plays.

I would like to think HKS knows how far from a wall to safefully place a goal post.

I do to but most places I've seen with short distances have padding on the walls. The brick looks so good it would be ashame to cover it with padding and it doesn't appear they are going to do that but I don't know.

In reference to the goal posts (which was the original topic at hand) one can hope that kicking into that North end zone will be intimidating for visiting team's kickers and quite possibly the fans in those sections can be rowdy enough to make it appear like the stands are moving (like these NBA playoff free throws). In other words, hopefully that wing zone can be an absolute home field advantage.
