From TAMU Athletics:

"The Texas A&M soccer team continued its undefeated run through its spring season on Sunday. The Aggies, the 2004 and 2005 defending Big 12 Soccer Champions, are now 8-0-0 for the season after beating the Sunbelt Conference champion UNT Eagles 10-4 and Stephen F. Austin 8-2 in 7-on-7 games. A&M then beat the Conference USA Tournament Champion, Rice Owls, 4-1 in an 11-on-11 game to wrap up the day at the Aggie Soccer Stadium."

It's gonna take awhile. Having an eagle logo probably only brought on more confusion. It wasn't until even last year that Eagles was out of our endzone. Try to explain it to a visitor at a game and then sing the fight song to them.........prepare for a blank stare.

Mean Green forever.

To the best of my knowledge (which sometimes isn't much) the women's teams are known as either the Eagles or Lady Eagles. Only the men use the Mean Green moniker.

Even the Lady Eagles moniker has been dead for a few years now. The womens basketball team was the last two switch over to the Mean Green nickname and that was a little over 2 years ago.

Can someone explain the 7-on-7 vs. 11-on-11?  huh.gif

Thanks

“The reason we do 7-on-7 games is because it gives us a chance to look at everybody,” NT head coach John Hedlund said. “Teams are usually a little short because their seniors just graduated and their recruiting class isn’t there yet, so we get a chance to look at kids that usually don’t get to play and I get a chance to do things that I normally wouldn’t do during the fall season.”

In addition to what he said, think about this: We've only got 16-17 girls right now and one is still out on injury (Amanda Mitchell). If they played 11-on-11, there wouldn't be enough to sub for everyone and some would play the whole game. With 4 games, that would be exhausting.
