Artist drawings of MUTS proposed baseball venue

Would it really cost that much more to build a brick veneer around the back and sides of those seats?  Would it have cost that much more to build a press box not made of barn/sheet metal?  That's the problem with this thing.  Whatever the costs of those extras, this university should have been able to raise it.  If we can't - we have no business................doing anything.

I drove by it for the first time yesterday and it didn't look as bad as it appears in the pics. They are still working on the dirt for the infield/outfield. The light poles are up but no fences in yet. I agree a bricked exterior would look much better and perhaps they could add that later to both the pressbox and bleachers?

Man, I hope you are right because the pictures make it look third rate. It is common for steel buildings to go up and add brick later to finish it out when the money becomes available. I hope this is the case and will reserve judgement until I see the facility in person. Better yet, I think I'll send RV an e-mail and ask him directly.

you guys know what effin pisses me off? It's the fact that our new baseball/softball facility is going to look like a legos set (or maybe a legos set might look better..i dunno)! Looks like MTSU's new facility is top of the line! It's going to be embarrassing to have teams come there and see the sh** hole we built! Why not do something right the first time? The athletic department might as well have left the girls playing at the park...it looks about the same!!! This is ridiculous....all the money raised going to THAT?? If they didnt have enough money to build a top of the line, or atleast VERY NICE and MODERN facility they should have waited until they had enough money. I am extremely dissappointed in this new addition....makes NT look like they are cheapskates! mad.gif

I dont belive that we dont have an alumni that owns a masonary company that would like his name on a stadium. bricking in this stadium shouldnt cost the school anything. I am sure that someone will donate the materials and their time to get this done. someone who owns one of these went to UNT, and anyone with a D or higher volume rating should have the money to donate a brick or stone veneer and all the labor to this stadium without batting an eyelash.

Yes, we do have just that someone who is an alumn. But you have to ask them...first.
