Punter commit - Seth Ford

UNT just landed a transfer commitment from former West Texas A&M punter Seth Ford. 

 

Stats are pretty solid. Looks as though he'll compete for the starting punting job for 2024

It's one of the "three phases", if you didn't already know, lol..........

He was a dual threat quarterback in High School and has good size (6'1" 210). Always good to have a punter with those skills in the event you want to use them for a fake punt.

With our current depth at QB, he might need to help with throwing practice routes in practice for the Spring. 😱

Not trying to expose myself here, but he went to a local HS for me (Round Rock HS). The kid was LEGIT when it came to playing QB. Not sure what exactly happened down the line that led him to become a punter, but I'm glad he found his way to UNT!

By any chance, does he also do kickoffs? I hope we can replace our ability to put almost every kickoff in the back of the end zone and avoid returns.

Stats show that he didn’t do any kickoffs this past season. Doesn’t mean he can’t do it, but as of right now that’s not his thing
