Six UNT Teams Earn Perfect Single-Year APR Scores

Recommended Posts

DENTON, Texas – Six UNT athletic programs earned a perfect single-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) score of 1,000 while seven teams improved or maintained their multi-year APR from the previous year.

Additionally, Women's Tennis earned a perfect multi-year score of 1,000 for an eighth straight year.

Men’s Golf, Women’s Golf and Women’s Cross Country have each achieved an APR of 1000 for three consecutive years. Men’s Track and Field posted its highest multi-year APR in program history with a 975, while Women’s Track and Field recorded a 990 for its second highest total on record.

Swim and Dive (13 years) and Soccer (12 years) both extended streaks of maintaining or exceeding APR scores of 980 or greater. Women’s Golf has exceeded the 980 mark for the eighth year in a row.

The following teams boasted perfect 1000 scores in the APR single-year: Men’s Cross Country, Men’s Golf, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Cross Country, Women’s Golf, Women’s Tennis.

Each academic year, every Division I sports team calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for remaining eligible and 1 point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.

This is the second year of publicly reported APRs after a one-year COVID-19 hiatus. Last spring, the Division I Board of Directors approved the release of APR scores but voted to continue the suspension of program penalties.
