Cincinnati just needs to take care of business and hope Houston & SMU don't lose any other games besides the ones they play against Cincy.   Let the other teams cannibalize each other, especially those B1G teams.  The problem for Cincy is going to be if Wake winds up with 1 loss or no losses.  If Wake wins the ACC with 1 loss or less, they'll leapfrog Cincy.   Anybody worried that shaky, wheels-off Oklahoma team is gonna make it through unscathed?  Once they lose, the Big12 will be out.

IMO, when everything shakes out, it's going to be Georgia, Oregon, <whoever wins B1G> & either Wake Forest or Cincy.

No one is beating Georgia this year.  They're the National Champs.  This should be obvious to anyone paying attention.   Everything else is just posturing.

I bet the UTSA boards are melting down right now wondering why they aren’t listed in the CFP’s top 25. 😂

Part of me laughs because F.uch UTSA, but another part of me is very frustrated knowing that the same thing would happen to us if we were in their spot.

I disagree about UGA. A solid team will make their former walk on QB beat them with his arm. When that happens, he won't be able to.

Well if you wanna be in the CFP you gotta play good teams. Beating an overrated ND team and a bunch of average G5 teams doesn’t exactly scream that you’re deserving of a Playoff spot.

It worked for Oregon.

Stop falling for this narrative that the G5 has a team within the same league as Bama, UGA, OSU and others. They don’t have anything close and likely wont. I agree its a money making issue for teams like ND and OU but Cincy has no business with the true powers of CFB

Yet, if ND had beaten Cincy and was currently undefeated, they would be included although their SOS is weak.

ND opened the year and should have lost to a bad FL St, but won in OT, beat Toledo by 3, beat an inconsistent Purdue, beat a down Wisconsin, lost to Cincy and then followed that with three wins against underachieving teams in VA Tech, USC and North Carolina.

The system is ridiculous.

You have to remember, NT fans are jaded with years of apathy and nut kicks.
Also, a vast majority of us have followed CFB for longer than UTSA has had a football program.
We would understand this is how it goes.

This is why the playoff is expanding. It’s too predictable, no one is interested in watching Alabama win again. Although there is still plenty of time for this to change.

The playoff expansion appears to be out as the other conferences are trying actively to keep the SEC from getting too many teams in an expanded playoff.

We are stuck at 4 for awhile. And the Big XII’s days as being able to have a qualifier will be over the moment OU and UT are in the SEC.

More of the same going forward.

Sure, and I'm sure we would also realize that beating up on a cupcake schedule like they have doesn't get you much in the eyes of the committee but I'm sure many of us would still feel jilted at the lack of recognition for a historic season.

I'm a firm believer that if you are unable to win your conference, you have not proven yourself worthy of a national championship.  Win your conference first, then you get a chance to win the national championship... that's the reward.  All 10 FBS conference winners should have the opportunity to win it all.  Seed them, let the "bottom" 4 have a play-in game to the final 8 and settle everything on the field.  Yep, it's a long road for the last 4 seeds, but they have a chance to prove it on the field...it's fair.  If ND or any other independent wants a chance to win the NC, then they need to join a conference.

What is going to happen when the SEC takes FSU and Clemson and expand in conference play by a game?  OOC games are slowly going to diminish to keep $$ in the conference.

Well, that might be a game changer, but the ACC has a GOR in place until 2035. I don't see anyone from the ACC leaving anytime soon.
