  1. From head coach at WV, Mich, and AZ, to the OC at Monroe with the prospect of moving up to a HC job at MUTS or UTSA...I stand by my comment.

  5. Congrats Lance! I was at that game in the rain when Lance went OFF! Final game of the season and he set all the records! mayby 5,000 in attendance and we should have shut them out, but let them score late in the 4th for a 59-7 victory! BTW, Lance's 313 yards at 7.8 ypc allowed UNT to cruise on a night when Derek Thompson went 2-7 for 23 yards through the air. I think my group that was in attendance didnt really know how to react to this game, because it had been sooo long since we blew out a division opponent.

  7. Dude is a Baylor Grad and is an obvious homer for schools like SMU, so I agree, he is a clown. That being said, we still don't even have a DC so who's to say how much this will change by next season?

  8. I don't know where this worry comes from, except that I think they are gripping onto something that - if you think about it - makes no sense. Look at any other postseason tourney. The "lucky" team is called "cinderella" and makes for gripping stories. Expanding the tourney would bring in more viewership and more money. If you really think about it, you're only worried because you think it means your team will lose.

  9. Oh! I think you're onto something here Letsgiveacheer... There are 5 All-American lists that count towards naming players "Consensus" or "Unanimous" All-Americans: Sporting News, Walter Camp FF, American Football Coaches Assoc, Football Writers of America & the AP. According to the NCAA's standards for receiving "Consensus" status, players must show up on at least 3 of these lists. Jaelon shows up on all 5... HOWEVER, there are only 2 spots for Wide Receivers on the All-American teams, and both Devonta Smith & Elijah Moore show up as 1st Team on 4 out of 5 lists (Devante is 1st team on all 5 lists, obviously, and Jaelon is 1st team on the Football Writers of America list). So Devonta & Elijah get the nods for those 2 "Consensus" spots due to tiebreaker rules (Elijah 4 1st team nods & Jaelon 1 1st Team nod). However, Jaelon's selection as 1st team by FWAA kept Elijah Moore from getting the coveted "Unanimous" distinction. Unless there's something I'm missing, I believe you're correct. Jaelon is NOT a "Consensus" All-American, despite showing up on all 5 lists.

  11. I wanted to puke this morning listening to Reese Davis and others on ESPN where he (an Alabama alum) was talking about how he liked the playoffs with 4 teams and how much he respected the "committee". He was worried if they expanded to let moren teams in and all P5 conference champions what worried him was that what if a team got "lucky" in the conference championship and wasn't really the top team in that conference. Freaking homer. Time for the top 30-40 programs to spin off and form their own 'professional" college football league

  12. How about promote Ekeler and just move on? We need someone to coach LBs and he damned sure can do that. He would likely show more 4-man fronts. He is an experienced coach and was fairly successful here. (Not advocating this just an idea since we want this settled soon.) Then bring in Marcus Trice as ST coach.

  19. Well anyone has to think long and hard about talking the DC job. You are taking over one of the worse defenses in the country. Your HC is in a win or else part of his contract. The longer it takes to find the right guy the harder it will become to find that guy.

  20. Dickey for sure put together a team that was able to win the SBC. Would have been interesting to see how he might evolved as the conference got stronger. Who knows what might have happened with a better AD. As for DD, and no disrespect, what is his actual role at A&M? I know, it's OC, but people I know that follow the program say that Fisher controls the offense and he is the one working with the QB's.

  21. I will add (since I haven't added enough LOL) Currently, you should be able to add yourself in most counties for the 1B phase if you are: 65 years or older. 16 years or older, with at least one chronic comorbidity: Cancer Chronic kidney disease COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies Solid organ transplantation Obesity and severe obesity (body mass index of 30 kg/m2 or higher) Pregnancy Sickle cell disease Type 2 diabetes mellitus NOTE that these are just the LISTED co-morbidies, but they are not limited to those, so I would certainly suggest that if you are in a high risk situation and suffer from: Asthma (moderate-to-severe) Cerebrovascular disease (affects blood vessels and blood supply to the brain) Cystic fibrosis Hypertension or high blood pressure Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from blood or bone marrow transplant, immune deficiencies, HIV, use of corticosteroids, or use of other immune weakening medicines Neurologic conditions, such as dementia Liver disease Overweight (BMI > 25 kg/m2, but < 30 kg/m2) Pulmonary fibrosis (having damaged or scarred lung tissues) Thalassemia (a type of blood disorder) Type 1 diabetes mellitus Then get a note from your doctor and sign up. FOR THE LOVE OF PETE, DON'T LIE OR TRY TO JUMP THE LINE OR OVERREACT, but if you're truly in a situation where you have to go back to work and come in contact with a bunch of people spreading crap around, especially if you are 40+, you probably have ONE of these conditions. At the very least, you should be able to get placed on a list and might find yourself called in when they hit the 11th doses. https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/vaccine/heres-where-sign-up-register-vaccine-mega-site-hub-center-where-you-live-collin-denton-tarrant-dallas-county-registration/287-0b8d3019-8000-46a4-b5dd-41602e7484b0?fbclid=IwAR026jBNd-mUim-FULfhCKmcjAWBcUBcPuQeBv3MBx6LB9XQZSNuX8vdT5g https://dentoncounty.quickbase.com/db/bq5nwntc6

  23. I’ve not heard of anyone getting pushed to the front at any of the 3 places where I know people working in DFW. That’s two hospitals and one public station. I know people TRYING to. But everything is reserved and logged and you have to give your employer/profession and which of the categories you fall into to get on the rolls. I suppose people could lie. But again I haven’t heard of a bunch of people being even that clever. Most just call or show up and angrily demand it. Even physicians and other hospital workers without appointments are getting turned back. If you have a reserved spot you CAN get pulled in early because the vials technically hold 10 doses but if carefully administered, you can get 11 out of them. That’s about the only way someone can get a dose early. So I can see someone setting it up for someone they know, but they’d have almost no lead time to do so because they’d have to be doing it with the excess doses. That means it would have to be done same-day. But I’ve heard more stories of judges and administrators and doctors angry at being turned away than I have about someone else getting a shot early. It might just be the people I know involved in dosing the vaccine are respectable. But you also have to be on the same dosing schedule. They have scheduled days/rosters/appointment times for dose1/dose2. So if someone is trying to jump the line, they’d still have to keep the information on which dose they were getting and when they could get their 2nd dose, because that wouldn’t be guaranteed. Only about half of our (frontline) staff has been able to get the first dose. Maybe a third have been able to get both doses. About 1/4 of the staff have gotten COVID since the holidays. While it’s still a bit of a cluster* and there are certainly people jumping the line, I’m not sure how widespread that particular issue is. The biggest issue at this point is how few doses they get at a time and how sporadic the rollout has been. There is a schedule for the phases, and it’s built both on risk as well as how vulnerable a population is. That’s why it goes in the order it is, and why facilities and such are in higher priority order than those who can functionally distance. It’s unfortunate that the school situation is what it is, but that’s left up to the cities/districts how much risk they wish to expose their staff and students to. Because schools, unlike hospitals and other facilities, don’t HAVE to be open, there’s no reason for a 30-50 yr old teacher to get a vaccine before frontline workers, first responders, and elderly people with a bunch of comorbidities residing in facilities. So what I’m saying is that the vaccine rollout is occurring at a completely different level and decision point than that of the school districts. Two different entities are making their own decisions for their own needs. WFAA has a link for all the sites, including the mega sites and individual county links where one can sign up if you’re in the area. You don’t necessarily have to be in the county to sign up. It’s all just based on scheduling. And anyone in 1A or 1B can sign up.

  24. I'm lost as to who Hall is. The only Hall that I know that used to coach under Fuente is now the head coach at Southern Miss. We have no Hall on our staff that I can find. I'd be OK with Ekeler if push came to shove. He was CoDC when he was here last and at least he puts fire in the belly of his players and maybe he'd have done better if he'd had it alone. But, this is a make or break year for Seth and he needs complete confidence in his hire.

  31. No. UNT has FOUR retired jerseys: Hayes - 1st round AFL pick, AFL ROY, AFL 4x All Star, 3x AFL rushing TD leader, AFL MVP, AFL All Time Team, AFL Champion, KC Chiefs HOF, KC Chiefs retired jersey Renfro - 4th round pick, 3x NFL Pro Bowl, 2x NFL Champion, 1x Super Bowl Champion (as coach) Richard Gill - All conference linebacker in 1968 and 1969. Died his senior year due to a blood clot following surgery. HIS WAS THE FIRST UNT JERSEY RETIRED... in 1971. Greene - #4 pick in NFL draft, 4x SB Champion, 10x Pro Bowler, 5x 1st Team All-Pro, 3x 2nd Team All Pro, 2x NFL DPOY, NFL DROY, NFL 1970s All-Decade Team, NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team, NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team, NFL Man of the Year, Steelers retired jersey (1 of 2), and he was never, ever sick at sea. That's the bar. And note, if you want to make this about what they did in college, Gill was the only one who had his jersey retired before going off to accomplish great things as a pro. Greene's was retired in 1981, Haynes 1986 (I think?), and Renfro posthumously in 2000.

  32. Being she has not played all year, I am not sure how we can tell how good she is now. or how much NT has missed her on the court. As far as passed by better younger players, who? Her playing time was limited primarily because she played behind Townley in a 4 guard offense. Townley who is a senior may have decided to play the extra year, that would certainly cut into Shepard's playing time. Lampkin and McDowell seemingly her greatest competition for minutes after Townley, have not played that much. Lee who is also a junior, has been playing a lot lately, probably because Shepard is not available, against opponents with taller players. Just a wild guess, but Shepard and Mitchell have just never seemed to click. It may be a attitude thing on the part of either one. I wish Shepard well, I think she is going to make another team very happy.

  33. oh what could have been if RV would not have hamstrung TD the first year by not allowing him to keep any staff holdovers. Good for both of them going back and being successful. Should be interesting game.

  34. HOF? Absolutely. Fast track him. Retire #1? I think there is a better option.... Here is an idea. We could place a higher standard on issuing the #1 jersey to a player. Don't just let players claim it. Only award the jersey to the top WR on our roster, when the consensus of the coaches agree the WR has achieved the same level of work ethic, leadership, and success that Darden exhibited. This means the #1 jersey may not be issued every season, but when it is, it will go to a very special "team captain". It could be a good recruiting tool too. At some point, if the list of WR's that wear #1 were to grow even more distinguished, than maybe a space on the wall at field level can feature the #1 and list the names of those that were awarded the jersey. Just a thought.

  35. I understand what you are saying, and am excited to have him as part of our program, but I am not terribly swayed by workout videos. There are too many "workout warriors" out there that can't play a lick. Heck, I still workout every day. You don't want to see me out there.

  38. No, you would be making the most coveted number unavailable He certainly deserves special recognition, NT just needs to find another way, maybe name recognition like Greene, Renfro, etc. on the stadium wall. Also, I think it is too soon; let his career mellow for at least 5 years.

Under-recruited player out of high school because his major focus was on baseball (Owasso is a national powerhouse in baseball). Good size and great work ethic. Walked on at OSU and earned a scholarship because of his play on special teams. Is more of a "Midwest mike" LB but will compete for a starting position here. No doubt in my mind he will be a contributor
