The Ticket radio station is running a commercial advertising SMUt's first game against "The Hated North Texas Mean Green." I didn't need another reason to be fired up for our home opener, but they gave me one anyway.12 points

Cannot wait until SMU but I am extremely excited because I just purchased 15 tickets on the same row for the Arkansas game. Purchased through SeatGeek sadly because it was so much cheaper than our ticket office. I believe we're sitting right in the middle of Hog fans but will be even sweeter when we upset. Never been to a game in Fayetteville and hopefully we are 2-0 so I can chill out and watch football with a little less stress.4 points

Come by my work and I'll give you some tickets. When you get to the drive thru, order your usual quarter pounder meal and I'll give them to you with your fries.4 points

Heard Norm interviewing Sonny Dykes the other day, Norm listed several games SMU has this year and how tough they would be ( did not include UNT ) . Coach interupted him and told him you realize that UNT may have the best QB in the state . Norm did not reply to that statement.4 points

I will say 26-27k. We don’t just need numbers though. It needs to be loud. This is a crucial game.4 points

not saying he isn't speaking the truth, but hard to believe a Sumlin recruit, transferring to Arizona to play for Sumlin again, and trying to get a waiver to play immediately.3 points

Amazing how different fanbases' analyze the coming season. A lot of NT fans fear a significant decline in the number of wins despite returning the best offense in the league, an almost for sure better defense, one of the best QB's in the nation, and a team that is definitely trending up. A lot of USM and La Tech fans would be predicting a top 25 finish with NT's plus factors. I don't understand the high finish predictions for UAB. I predict a split with FAU, an unexpected away conference loss and a bowl game win over a less than stellar opponent. Knowing the likelihood of any prediction being right is small, I predict 12-2 and finishing number 22 in the nation, Take that USM and La Tech fans.3 points

From being a fan through the Dickey years, you don't become a power running team overnight. I would say it's easier to become a pass-oriented offense than a running offense. A good QB can make a pass offense go meanwhile it takes at least five good OL to get the running game going. If you think Dickey is a bad example, Saban lost to ULM while converting his team to a downhill running game. It doesn't happen overnight.3 points

I bet most of their smug-ass fanbase hates that ad--most of them hate that they play us, nothing more than that. Similar to how TCU looks at them and we look at nUTSAck...3 points

So CUSA and Sun Belt announce new scheduling schemes to improve RPI, NCAA says uh it was time to adopt a better system. https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2018-08-22/division-i-mens-basketball-committee-adopts-new-ranking2 points

DRC: Guyton, Lawrence and Bussey had some growing up to do when they got to UNT. They've grown into one of the top WR groups in the country along the way https://www.dentonrc.com/sports/maturation-puts-trio-of-unt-receivers-on-course-for-greatness/article_a64c10f4-0ecf-5a54-a026-7697ac133cb7.html2 points

I listen to The Ticket, but I gotta admit that a lot of the programming is on the maturity level of @THOR‘s students. I’m sure he just wants to leave work at work.2 points

Does CUSA not restrict intra-conference transfers like that? I thought I'd always read that when somebody leaves one of the big boy teams, they generally are prohibited from going to a conference rival. Nonetheless, I'd love to think that this kid was standing on the opposing sideline last year, watching the drive, and decided to give up his Dark Side dreams and come join us in the Denton light as a target for Mason Fine.2 points

Over capacity. The juniors have seen back to back bowl seasons. Sophomores saw an amazing season. Freshmen have been force fed school pride and how good we are. First wrestling match after D-1 game. DFW rivals. Rangers suck. Got the best QB in the nation. Long hot boring summer.2 points

I'm in the dead center of that mass of flying helmets and fists, and just as I was about to get laid out.......NT and Pittsburgh Super Bowl running back Eric Pegram saved my ass. At that time we used to pack Boomer with several wads of newspaper to increase the concussion..( yes, Boomer can be much louder if you can believe that?). And every now and then a wad of the paper, sometimes still burning would fly out onto the turf and we would have to run and get it before it started melting the turf. So on that play just as luck would have it,....we fired the cannon as time ticked off after the blocked FG attempt and a piece of wadding shot way out past the corner of the endzone. So I ran after it. Stupid me....I wasn't paying good attention to what was going on on the field and when I looked up from picking up the paper here came a mass of bodies....and the fight was on! Everyone was punching and shoving and swinging helmets. When I saw the helmets I tried staying low but me and one of smu's coaches got into it a little, we were shoving each other back and forth yelling when all of a sudden something grabbed me and spun me around and it was an smu lineman and he was reared back and about to let me have it when out of nowhere Eric split between the two of us, grabbed the guy and threw him down like a child. it was something else and I'll never forget it and have told Eric more than once thank you for that. Everything I'm hearing (where's the salt) is that it's very similar play book to last year with some nomenclature difference. We'll see how that goes soon enough. We return Xavier Jones(5.9 ypc and primary rusher) who rushed for >1000 last year and Braeden West (7.8 ypc) who broke 1000 in 2016. The Big Man (patent pending) Ke'mon Freeman (4.1 ypc, 543 total) looks to have a good year since the new staff will likely use West as more of a slot back than a go-to rusher. An experienced QB starter but no tested players in the depth chart means I say the RB position is probably the best position on the offense.1 point

I would say 4th or 5th at his position. I liked his size, but he seemingly struggled to put on weight to really fill out his frame and I think that hindered his playing time. We are also a timing offense with marked spots to throw to. He was more so a jump ball/fade route kind of guy. So IMO his skill set fits a pro style type offense rather than a timing offense like ours.1 point

I totally agree with this. They may be more talented than they were last year (but no Sutton....thank you universe). I just think we will be better prepared for this one and take it by a hair. Of course, stomping them would be so much more fun.1 point

I would take that info for what it is...a post on Ponyfans. As for me, I'll place my bet on Coach Littrell and his familiarity with Coach Dykes and his tendencies.1 point
