  3. No black, only as an accent color. Outline the numbers, the logo (which I wish was on the helmet) or any lettering in black, but the primary colors should be our green and white.

  5. I I could totally get on board with a black helmet and jersey combo...as an alternate. Maybe bring it out for bowl games, conference championship games, etc. I figure we'd need it at least once a year.

  6. I like flat black. It won't happen, I get that. -Although, I never thought we'd have all black BB uniforms. Moving forward into C-USA, the more pressing need is defensive tackles. We're way too small there.

Heres a link to one of his profiles : http://247sports.com/Player/DJuan-Hines-19742?pi=31745 He appears to have an offer according to a tweet Brian Perroni retweeted. Im on my phone and not sure how to link it, but it says Hines has offers from Rice, Northwestern, and North Texas and has interest in Ole Miss.

  8. You know, I like comparing the Mean green's program with other school's programs...especially those in the Sun Belt and our new affiliation CUSA. I think we and the folks in the athletic department can find good ideas to copy. And, you know what? They have. Look at the Mean green Club priority point system, the Mean green Club Volunteer Rep program, the Coaches Caravans, membership benefit levels and on and on. Many were ideas that originated at other programs brought to us by staff members, alumni and fans. So, comparing UNT and how UNT does things to other programs is an excellent ex cerise. One, I can tell you that the Athletic Dept. does on a very regular basis. One of our senior staffers was just this last weekend away at a conference sharing ideas with other schools and learning about new and innovative programs that might benefit UNT. But, when one compares, one must compare more than just the cool stuff. Let's take Southern Miss for an example...the Southern Miss Golden Eagle Club (our Mean Green Club) requires a $1500.00 minimum Golden Eagle Club donation to our $500 in order to purchase lower bowl 50-yard line section seats. In addition, So. Miss charges an EXTRA $300 per seat according to the number of seats you purchase...So, you buy four 50 yard line seats your cost per year is $ 2700.00 PLUS the price of the tickets! Did I read that correctly on the So Miss site? At UNT that cost is $500 plus the price of the tickets. The other sections are priced at So Miss are priced accordingly. So, one must realize how much more money So Miss has to do things with than UNT does at the moment. So, comparisons are great, but let's compare available funds and the willingness of fans and donors to step up and pay the price as well. To get ones name in the football program at So Miss, one must donate a minimum of $500 to the Golden Eagle Club. Think about that Mean green Fans! This is a level of support I would hope UNT and UNT fans everywhere are striving to obtain. And, yes, UNT is behind in that level of support by a good margin, but progress is being made. Right now several Volunteer Reps are working hard and sometimes swimming against the currents to try to raise the number and overall donation level for UNT's Mean Green Club. As one such volunteer, I can tell you that you hear lots of things regarding the program and the ideas folks have about the Mean green Club and the Mean Green in general. So, let's all do compare UNT to other schools and let's compare UNT to the best of the best as that is where most of the great Mean Green Nation wants to be...and in many areas already is at that level. BUT, let's never forget that it takes many many more dollars that UNT currently has at its disposal to get that done. And, when we compare, let's all realize what a fantastic BARGAIN the Mean Green Club and the benefits we all receive are as the price will definitely have to go up in order to get where we want to go. One simply cannot make suggestions and wish it so and then leave it to someone else to do the heavy lifting. It's that time where Mean Green Nation members everywhere might need to look in the mirror and get out those work gloves and start helping with the heavy lifting that needs to be done. Does this mean only sending in more money? Nope, it can mean volunteering one's time and expertise as well. Live outside Denton? Like to play golf? How about organizing a Mean Green Club golf tournament? It's hard work...I've done it, but it can sure help raise a lot of money. How about helping to organize a local Alumni Chapter? Yep, hard work and lots of frustration, but when it gets going it is well worth the effort. Complaining that someone else SHOULD be doing something, that in fact you could help do, is not doing much to make those comparisons with folks like Southern Miss seem much closer. So, I know, lots of folks will complain bout this post and perhaps disagree quite loudly...that's well OK as they are more than welcome to their opinions, but, at the end of the day, we all know what must be done and we all know if we are part of the "doing it crowd" or the "they should be doing it" crowd. The great Mean Green Nation really can do this...they have shown their willingness time and time again...we just need more of those folks and we need some we have to help make something more happen. Bring on those comparisons...they really do help put things in perspective...let's do have a complete perspective howerer......

  9. Boy, UTSA caught us in a hurry. They don't even have a practice facility. It appears that they are bussed about a mile to a high school facility for practice. No tradition as they are in their second year ever and have yet to play a FBS opponent. Sure, they've got a great coach but he has little to recruit to and he doesn't stand out that much over other Texas coaches. UTSA has so far to go that the reincarnation of Bear Bryant could have little success in their situation. They'll be successful in time but beating NAIA and Division III schools doesn't elevate you anywhere in the FBS world.

  10. I never really understood this argument. I'm not partial either way, just throwing this out there: We are UNT. Or NT. Or North Texas. There just are not a ton of major FBS colleges out there for us to be confused with like, fore example, TU, UT (Tulsa, Tennessee, Texas, etc) OU didn't start with Oklahoma on their helmets and then switch once everything was clarified. You want to know why no one knows who we are? It's not because people are confusing us with someone else. It's because we have not won consistently, nor won on a national/televised/whatever level since Europe actually looked like the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. I can't believe I just delved into this helmet discussion, but here I go again.

  14. The Bulldogs' football team, likely members of the West Division, could avoid all three of its new league's longest trips (East Carolina, Florida International and Old Dominion) depending on how scheduling pans out. Van De Velde foresees a potential $150,000 to $250,000 reduction in travel costs when the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters join C-USA for competition in the fall of 2013 — those savings on top of about $100,000 he and Tech hope to see next academic year because of membership changes within the WAC. "We don't know right now exactly because we're still budgeting for next year with the existing WAC membership," the athletic director said. "But we can already see some savings even in the reconfigured WAC. With teams like Nevada, Fresno State and Hawaii on their way out and Texas-Arlington, Texas-State and Texas-San Antonio coming in, it will certainly affect our travel budgets, and the following year we'll realize even more benefits. http://www.thenewsstar.com/article/20120.../205270312 View the full article

  15. CONFERENCE USA'S 2013-15 re-invention is long on larger television markets, short on football tradition. The newcomers won't have respect handed to them. The six new schools had a combined 2011 record of 35-26, which means zilch. From highest to lowest, we have Old Dominion 10-3, Florida International and Louisiana Tech 8-5, North Texas 5-7 and Texas-San Antonio 4-6. No meaning there, especially when ODU and UTSA were playing in the classification formerly known as I-AA. And then there was the 2011 record at North Carolina-Charlotte - 0-0. Betcha it will be 0-0 this fall, too. And that makes the 49ers the most interesting case of C-USA's third rendition. Their inclusion doesn't give C-USA much respect nationally, but that isn't the point here. http://www.wvgazette.com/Sports/Marshall/201205270119 View the full article

  16. Man that's great. Except with the new Riddell 360 helmet, no green stripe down the middle, and Nike uni's. UNT green looks super cool on black, the contrast is perfect. Would easily become the most recognizable helmet in CUSA, in a good way. Great for marketing and overall program visibility.

  17. Having a black uniform as part of the rotation would be awesome. Black mixed with the type of green we sport would be a sickly great combo. We can still have white unis and green ones but these days CFB teams have different uniforms for providing different looks and let's face it...they sell more jerseys. So let's do it. Oh and let's put our logo on our helmets.

  31. I know, it's like he has a special talent that people want or something! What a jerk!!! You guys are absolutely ridiculous sometimes. Here we are with a chance to land a special talent and all some of you can do is bitch and moan about it. This isn't 1976, this is how football goes now. We are not in a position to tell a talent like this no. Where do you guys get that he has a huge ego problem? Has he had academic problems? Has be broken the law? Rape? Murder? Drugs? Theft? Can you blame someone for exploring all of his options? Apparently on GMG you can and should.

  32. Right? What a jerk this kid must be for taking his time with such a life-altering decision. Clearly he's only thinking about himself, his family and what's best for both when in reality he ought to be much more concerned with what he's doing us.

  33. Social media will go the way of pagers. Once cool and a status symbol, pagers are now only used by a select few professions. Yes, cell phones put them out of commission, but something will come along and do the same thing to Facebook. The under 25 demographic is one ADD, ADHD filled bunch. Even they will eventually lose interest.

  34. You will see Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, and all the other race baiters holding demonstrations outside the courthouse during the trial. Why, you may ask? Zimmerman was arrested, right? The system is doing what it is "supposed" to, right? So why will they be protesting? 1. To influence and intimidate the judge and jury. You will probably even hear threats of violence in the streets if Zimmerman is not convicted. Make no mistake, this will be an orchestrated effort to influence the verdict. 2. To get themselves attention. They could give 2 craps about the Martin family.

  35. Funny thing is, people will call you out on INTERNET DISCUSSION BOARDS if you don't have the facts. I've seen you do it on a daily basis when others are wrong in other forums. All I have done is point out what we don't know and blatant mischaracterizations of "evidence" posted by others. As far as not having an opinion one way or another, just remember: It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

  36. Police did arrest ZImmerman, questioned him, then let him go. That isn't unusual. They saw firsthand his injuries, probably found out pretty quickly he was the neighoborhood watch guy, and surely knew about the steadily increasing number of crimes commited in that neighborhood. They didn't have enough evidence (and probably still don't) to hold him for something as serious as murder one. Murder two is even going to be difficult to prove here. In America, they can only hold you indefinitely if you are one of those godless terrorists bent on killing Americans. Zimmerman, by all accounts, isn't a godless terrorist. Although, wait a day or two and the media may try to hit that angle.

  37. Show me any fact anywhere that says this happened. THERE ISN'T ONE. Stop listening to media reports. Listen to the 911 call again. Think. There is absolutely NO evidence (in public, anyway) that Zimmerman "pursued" Martin. There is just as much evidence that Martin doubled back and jumped Zimmerman (which is NONE). We don't know what happened. Could ZImmerman have followed Martin against call taker (not police) advice? Yes. If he did, is there anything illegal or even morally wrong with that? No. Nothing. Period. When you say Zimmerman "pursued" Martin, you are presenting your opinion as fact. Stop.

  39. Never said I was more intelligent. I'm just saying the Bleacher Report has a reputation for getting things wrong, like our stadium and our current helmet, when they ranked them earlier this year. As far as my success... I hold a few degrees, support my family and some people even think I have a little talent too. I'll post some pictures of what I do by next fooball season. Maybe I'll even build a website by then.

  45. I would not disagree with you at all, but are you sure they didn't get those tickets from a UNT season ticket holder who didn't show up and sold his/her tickets? I know this has happened in the past. I guess UNT could just not sell those higher priced tickets on game days or to non-season ticket holders. Is that what you want? You do get additional "perks" such as parking, a Mean green Club gift, football program recognition, invitations to Mean green Club events, Mean green Club hospitality room access, etc. So, the walk-up guy or gal is not getting the same perks as you are through your season ticket purchase and Mean Green Club donations. I do, however, very much understand your feelings as I feel somewhat the same way when i see folks in the Club area who bought Club tickets the day of the game or just before the game. I guess for me, I am of the opinion that it is better to sell the remaining higher priced tickets and get the additional attendees. But, that's just me.

  46. I know this is not a favorite topic and it rears it head every off season, but I recently saw the image below and noticed our helmet sticking out like a sore thumb. Not only does it not look right, but it looks amateurish/FCS to me. By now it should be known that we're North Texas, it doesn't need to be on our helmet. The SOW or interlocked NT would look so much better I don't see how they haven't made the switch already. Something needs to be done before the 2013 season. Every other CUSA school has their logo, school letters, or both on their helmets except us. I mean honestly I am 100% confident more people know who we are than ODU, UTSA, UNCC, UAB & FIU yet we have the FCS helmet? Something needs to be changed.
