  1. I need help here. Is this the most accomplished/experienced transfer class we've had in the McCasland/Hodge era(s)? Not asking about how those classes panned out, just the class itself at commitment/signing. I feel we needed to be sold a lot more during other recent recruiting cycles. This is all looking really good.

  2. It's easier for us to say it's fun since we're not the ones who have to recruit an entire new team every year, but it's honestly exciting to see how the new team is built. The max exodi of beloved players sucks, but in this new age losing guys like TP, Drez, Rubin and Aaron doesn't have to mean a several-year rebuild. Now we can "retool" and even get better. I think this year was more of a gut punch because it felt to me and many others that Rubin and Aaron were Mean Green for life. They've been the constant leaders throughout the past turnover. But even healthy we weren't the most talented team in the conference. And I trust Hodge. The past seven years Grant and Hodge have run a clean program and as much as I love the guys who have played for us, I trust Hodge and Forte will continue recruiting players who will be good representatives of the university, even if only for a year. I also agree we need two more PF's - at least one who can space the floor shooting 3's. Assuming we have at least three scholarships left, so assume we'll see another guard. I'd like to see us bring on one guy who's averaged 18PPG or more. Doesn't matter which position though it'd be a nice changeup for it to be a high scoring big man.

  3. Gabriel Murphy to Vikings & Grayson Murphy to Dolphins. Noah Rauschenberg got an invite to Chiefs rookie camp.

  4. At this point I don’t know if you’re doing a bit or you’re just this clueless. Either way, it’s grating. https://redstormsports.com/news/2024/4/24/mens-basketball-st-johns-adds-north-texas-standout-aaron-scott

  5. I think we now are better at the 1 & 2 than last year. Need to get some PF’s.

  6. In my relatively short time as a Mean Green fan, I don't think I've seen a team so carried by seniors. This weekend's series was the last three games at Lovelace for 10 Mean Green seniors, and all but one (Truitt) was either an everyday starter or saw significant playing time. Here's who will be returning barring any transfers. All classifications are what they will be in 2025. Likely starters (in my opinion) Rylee Nicholson (SR) - UT Cierra Simon (SR) - SS Madison Conley (SO) - UT Tatum Sparks (JR) - UT Elizabeth Moffitt (SO) - C Jodie Epperson (JR) - OF Returning Pitching Staff Skylar Savage (SR) Mackenzie Childers (JR) Kayleigh Smith (SO) Returning, but will they play? Mikaela Olguin (JR) - OF Emma Grahmann (SR) - IF Blayze McNemar (SO or RS-F?) - OF Maci George (SO or RS-F?) - IF There doesn't appear to be a website to find commits for softball, so through social media, here are the incoming freshmen I have found: Katy Brock, OF, Mabank Shelby Buffington, P, Franklin Page (Tennessee) Rylie Harris, C, Forney Gracie Mahoney, P, Macomb Dakota (Michigan) - another 6 footer, like Skylar Ausha Moore, IF, Carl Albert HS (Midwest City, OK) Taylor Platt, OF, Argyle Committed Inbound Freshmen for 2026 Eva Daniels, IF, Forney Laila Nobles, IF, Pearland Addie Perry, UT/C, Aledo Love the Metroplex talent we are bringing in. Forney's currently the #1 team in the state. But looks like we still have a handful of spots to fill next year. Going to need to improve the hitting and power. Maybe we can land some home run threats in the portal who want to get closer to home. I'll post stories and highlights of the commits shortly.

  7. Don't know if yall saw but this dude will be joining the Mean Green. Stats speaks for themselves. Guy is a BALLER. HODGE AND CO are putting in that WORK.

  8. So in his time here, Seth Littrell signed a CFL quarterback, and two quarterbacks who were signed to the NFL as UDFA’s. Not bad.

  9. This has to be the reason he is leaving. Not that I don't love our school, but Drake was 28-7 last season and went to the NCAA. It is very exciting he chose us over 2 SEC teams though! In Hodge we trust!! I can't wait to see this guy play, I think he will pick up where JE left off. Maybe he will be better in the culture too!

  10. Brett Vito (D-RC) points out that Drake's coach took the job at West Va. And that Wright could have followed him there. And apparently Arkansas and Florida reached out to him....but he chose us. (all info from BV)

  13. This is where I am. My 10 year old son has the team posters for every team since the 2019-2020 one in a montage on his wall…Aaron and Rubin were the consistent faces on several of them.

  14. Here's what the conference tournament would look like if it started today. Finishing 2nd or 3rd is the difference between having to win just two games in two days, or four games in four days. Wednesday, May 8 - First Round Game 1: No. 5 Wichita State vs No. 8 South Florida - 10 a.m. (ESPN+) Game 2: No. 4 Tulsa vs No. 9 UTSA - 1 p.m. (ESPN+) Game 3: No. 6 UAB vs No. 7 East Carolina - 4 p.m. (ESPN+) Game 4: No. 10 Memphis vs No. 3 North Texas - 7 p.m. (ESPN+) Thursday, May 9 - Second Round Game 5: Winner WSU/USF vs Winner Tulsa/UTSA - 12 p.m. (ESPN+) Game 6: Winner UAB/ECU vs Winner Memphis/UNT - 2:30 p.m. (ESPN+) Friday, May 10 - Semifinals Game 7: Winner WSU/USF/Tulsa/UTSA vs No. 1 FAU - 12 p.m. (ESPN+) Game 8: Winner UAB/ECU/Memphis/UNT vs No. 2 Charlotte - 2:30 p.m. (ESPN+) Saturday, May 11 - Championship Game 9: Winner Game 7 vs Winner Game 8 - 11 a.m. (ESPN2)

  15. UNT has got to get guys drafted. 2 in the last 20 years despite having 5 different head coaching regimes during that time period isn't good for a D1 Texas school.

  16. Simple. Bring back Scott…. To my knowledge he hasn’t committed anywhere. Would be better off staying here. Increase his odds of play time and winning.

  17. Well, I guess I no longer have to commit seppuku to retain my honor as a North Texas fan. We’re back Baby!!!

  19. Weather has become a factor in a lot of games this season. Wet spring has really made this softball season pleasant. Feel like we had several 90+ degree games last season.

  20. Yes, win 2 of 3 in Charlotte and should be at least Top 2. If we do that and there's a three-way tie for first at 19-8, I'd imagine we'd take the top spot because we'd be 4-2 vs. the field, FAU 3-3, and Charlotte 2-4 in that hypothetical. Thanks! Wasn't able to watch that game, just kept up on Twitter.

  21. Regardless of what happens tomorrow.....we need to win 2 of 3 in Charlotte....right? As to backup catcher Moffitt......in our last game at Memphis....she tripped over first base....and fell on her wrist. I'm guessing it's a sprained wrist. As to backup catcher....I don't think we have one. But they used Olguin to warm up people in the bullpen. And remember on Kalei....she had to catch 16 innings last night.....and today's game was early. So might just be gassed. Go Mean Green!!!

  23. Lol. Reading it. I’d rank the novel up there with Dune and Lonesome Dove if anyone here is a fellow former UNT English major and would like to break off into small groups and discuss.

  27. Great pickup. Really impressed by his shooting %.....50% from 2, 41% from 3.

  28. Agreed. But I can understand them trying to get this game in today. If they do it....WSU can get home a day early....instead of having to stay around. Will try to make it too....won't be there at the start though. Go Mean Green!!!

  29. Three really nice touches for Senior Weekend 1) All ten senior players numbers in big white letters on the field. 5 of them in foul territory going from home plate up to 3rd.....the other five going from home plate up to 1st. 2) Having moms and dads of the seniors all throw out "ceremonial" first pitches......to their kiddos. 3) And honoring WSU's 8 or so seniors....by having our players present them all with one white rose and one yellow rose. (their team colors).....very classy.

  30. WSU pitcher in the second game was crazy. She was a strike away from being perfect through five innings, and had struck out at least 11/14 batters up to that point. Meanwhile the Shockers had runners in scoring position pretty much every inning but couldn't give her the run support she deserved and then she finally cracked.

  31. It's not been reported over there yet....but we lost another b-ball player to the portal y'day (Terrence Dixon). He played very little. But, as of this point......that will mean, if no one else leaves......9 new players in basketball next year. And, I'm guessing it's gonna be close to 50 new players in football this season. To me, that's not sustainable. You have to have some kind of relationship with the players. They can't all be "rentals."

  32. That sucks. Was looking forward to a mid-week North Texas fix with what is becoming one of my favorite teams from our university.

  35. I don't understand why you are here. Your university, as much, or more, than any other university, has contributed to the current situation and I will laugh when you all end up in the same boat as the rest because you won't be part of the "have's" when the break occurs. To the UT's, Bama's, Ohio State's, and Michigan's of the world, you all are just the snotty nosed kid with rich parents that is fun to bring along because you will pay for crap nobody else wants to.
