WKU Official Attendance

It was Revolution Day Eve in Mexico, so there go all our Mexican fans. That's the brunt of it right there.

Frankly, I'm amazed that we were able to pull 17k on World Toilet Day. That's a pretty big travel and family holiday... Moral victory?

I still had a good time yesterday.

Why would there not be outrage? Attendance like this is not OK. Our apathetic students and alumni don't get the extra push to go to the game when they look at the ticket and see a Middle Tennessee State University game.

The first, and probably last time I will agree with one od your posts.

MDH is right, nights like last night are embarrassing. Harry's defenses are just going up because of his love for the school. But let's be honest, just because we have a history of mediocrity and embarrassing football moments, doesn't mean we should just accept it continuing, as Harry implies.

What circumstance????

The circumstance that we're on a 3 game home winning streak and playing for a potential .500 bowl eligible season? With no Rangers, Cowboys, Stars, major college game conflicting? A perfect weather evening for late November?

This is an outrage. Any fan that's ok with 17k at our brand new stadium after 3 straight wins should be ashamed. We deserve better from our students and alumni.

Speaking of the students, did you see them filtering starting early in the 3rd? Hell, some of the alumni too left soon after.

You can blame that STUPID wrist band/spirit march promo for third/fourth quarter attendance. They gave away free stuff by gate 4 at the end of the third (shirts, flip flops) for people who participated in the spirit march. WHO DOES A PROMO THAT TAKES THE STUDENT SECTION OUT OF THE GAME!? I think that was the dumbest idea....EVER! So thank you to UNTactivities and Housing or whoever put on that ridiculous promotion. Clearly they weren't thinking. Most students just got their stuff and walked out because they had already left the stands.

I was shocked when I heard they were doing it at the end of the third? Why not say they will do it after the Alma Mater is played?

I guess those who think 17k is accurate are the ones who sat in one of the few crowded sections and never got up from their seats and walked around last night? No way in the world there was even remotely close to that.

This is late Novemebr, in a losing season. 11 years ago in November during another losing season, in a conference that included BOISE STATE, with us coming into a game against NMST at 2-8, we drew maybe 900. That's Nine Hundred! Those of you who were there will never forget it.

24 months later against the sameschoole, NMSU, around the same exact weekend in November, but with the conference championship on the line we drew 24k.

Since that time we have had a solid core of about 10k show up for our late season games, because again, we have a solid core fan base. Not a huge one, but a solid one. This was why I bitched about the time change for the FAU game. We have a solid core of people who are there, heat, cold, rain or shine regardless if there is a Ranger World Series game or if the team is 4-6.

In order to grow this we have to win. 4 Bowl games got us from a solid core of about 900 to roughly 10,000. Hopefully another run of wins in the future will see the same results.

You got to be kidding. The alumni section had full sections and there were scattered people all over the stadium. At the beginning, I can see how attendance got to 17k. perhaps you got there a little late or something, since people started leaving in the second quarter. But can definitely see the number being accurate. 17k is almost HALF of our stadium's capacity...I definitely saw a little more than half of it being filled at one point.

These are times when I wished I had taken pictures. And keep in mind this administration is under pressure to show attendance for new stadium justifications and future conference ramifications.

But for reference, how many students are in the band? 300? 325? Their one section in the lower bowl was full but not at capacity. If my memory serves me correct there are 12 rows per lower section on the student side and 30 seats across per row. That's only 360 that can fit. The band section and two student sections were full. At the most, if every seat in those three sections were at capacity, which we know they weren't, that's 1,080. Then there were scattered clusters of two here, three there plus the 40 or so visitors on the visitors and the wing sections. Ill be generous and call that another thousand. So 2,000 total for visitor and wing sections.

All four sections on both ends of the home side, upper and lower, were completely empty. So subtract 3,000 from the home sides' 10-12k seat capacity right there.

There wasn't a single home side section at capacity. The club section seats 750 and it wasn't at capacity either, despite all the numerous comped tickets to help fill it up.

So even if you were to generously claim there were 9,000 on the home side your looking at 11-12k total at best for the game?

I don't know if the 17k figure comes from tickets sold, or tickets given out and sold. But there was absolutely no way we had 17k butts in seats.
