So then it is reasonable for me to conclude that the truth lies somewhere on the spectrum between the two extreme points of Bartles and Heritage. Man I tire of both sides. Really I do.

That is a wise position. Although some may think me an extremist conservative, I am quite moderate. Where I stand firm is in the area of free market principles. Recessions are not a failure of capitalism, they are a part of it. Risk-reward is the cornerstone of capitalism, something the American people seem to forget during periods of growth.
