Wku Game (770 Miles From Unt)

Will I be the lone Mean Green fan in attendance Saturday at WKU? I hope not!

I really can’t blame anyone for not coming to Bowling Green to watch this team, so I fully expect to see NO NT fans at the game considering the long distance to Kentucky.

I live 5 minutes from WKU’s stadium, so of course I will be there to support.

I have WKU season tickets so let me give you the run down in executive summary fashion as I see it:

• WKU has played against good competition

1. Indiana: 31-13 L

2. #2 Bama: 47-7 L

3. KY: 41-3 L

4. VT: 27-13 L

5. #18 Ball State: 24-7 L @ WKU

• Bobby Rainey RB (124.3 yds/gm) is very very good and WKU has height/weight advantage on OL.

• QB starter K.J. Black left team and was replaced by David Wolke (Notre Dame Trans.) Wolke is solid and tested. (6’2” 205 lb Senior)

• WKU has a very speedy back-up QB

• WKU has tendency to fumble in key possessions

• 2008 Avg. Attendance: 17,596 (3 games) (Newly renovated stadium)

• 79th Homecoming

• WKU talent level is low but they play with a lot of intensity.

• WKU has been accused of “chippy” play by Ball State HC.

• VT players claimed WKU grabbed crouches in the pile.

• If UNT can stop big plays on Special Teams and contain Rainey and make almost no turnovers, we have a chance to win this game.

Forecast: Sunny 66°F/36°F

Weight Advantages

WKU vs. UNT Advantage (Ht.; Wt.)

Off. Line (6-3, 290) Def. Line (6-2, 258½) WKU — 1”; WKU — 10½ lbs.

Receivers (6-0, 205) Def. Backs (5-10, 182½) WKU — 2”; WKU — 22½ lbs.

Off. Backs (6-0, 210) Linebackers (6-1, 230) UNT — 1”; UNT — 20 lbs.

Def. Line (6-4, 270) Off. Line (6-3, 299) WKU — 1”; UNT — 29 lbs.

Def. Backs (5-11, 184) Receivers (6-2, 207) UNT — 3”; UNT — 23 lbs.

Linebackers (6-1½, 236) Off. Backs (6-1, 207) WKU — ½; WKU — 29 lbs.

WKU HC David Elson on North Texas

“North Texas is a much better football team than their record indicates. They have made strides in all three phases of the game in their second season under Coach Dodge, and it’s evident on film that they are a team to be reckoned with. This is another chance for us to line up against a Sun Belt Conference team, and we’ll be able to see how our work during the bye week translates into game

day.”

WKU Very Basic Summary

Basic Offense: Spread

Basic Defense: 3-4

Lettermen Returning/Lost: 41/19

Starters Returning/Lost: 14/10

When we were at the SBC Basketball tournament, some Hilltoppers fans offered a place to stay for any WKU game I could travel to. I'd be at this game, except I owe my girlfriend big time, and I have to go to Baylor's homecoming.

Will you be at the basketball game when NT travels to WKU?

Yes, I will attend the UNT@ WKU game.

2 years ago I had luxury box seats with food and snacks and private bathroom included. The sightlines were fantasticc and UNT won.
