Nt Football Spring Training

Considering everything at the scrimmage yesterday I see distinct improvement in our defense....and DeLoach hasn't put in all of his defense yet. We saw CB playing closer to receivers instead of 15 yds off, blitzes and tackles behind the line of scrimmage, an interception, good strong, long place kicking.

All this in spite of:

4... DL out, several OL ...out... only 3 of our 7 JC defensive players in college and in spring training.

I can imagine next fall....

1. The entire defensive agenda in place

2. two JC OL on board Nate Jenkins 6-4, 335, Gabe Hollivay 6-4, 330,

3. two JC Defensive players on board...DE Alonzo Horton 604, 260, 330, 4.65 and CB Justin Edwards 6-1, 185, 4.5

4. The return of 4 DL and several OL from last years team

That doesn't count the freshman coming on board.....imho the freshman that will contribute early on will be Troy Franklin, 6-5, 303 either at OL or DL which ever needs help...Troy bypassed basketball this spring to concentrate on weight training to increase his strength...in addition growing from 270 to 302 lbs.

Offense sputted to start off...due to improved defense and OL missiing in action. But there were 8 TD's including a couple of excellant runs by Cam Montgmery and some great catches by Fitzgerald and a couple of walk ons.

Dodge started one play in 6 games in that had not occurred we would have won those 6 games we lost....just think if we have improved enought to not have those 6 losses along with the two wins we did have...possible 8 wins next year>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
