As of today, the planned UNT Women's Spring exhibition soccer match with Notre Dame is still on for Sat at Craig Ranch.

Per Meangreensports.com

(3/2/08) - Playing in windy conditions throughout the day, Kendall Juett scored the winning goal against Iowa State midway for North Texas through the first half when she beat two defenders inside the box and placed the ball past the diving keeper to the low right corner of the goal.

Katy Booth had the assist of the lone goal which now gives the Mean Green a record of 4-1 for the 2008 spring season. The next match scheduled for North Texas will be Sunday, March 30th at 1 pm against Notre Dame at Craig Ranch Soccer Complex in McKinney.

Are you saying they moved the game up a day to Saturday or is that a typo on your part?

Yep I hosed up. It is SUNDAY, but they did change the time to NOON at Craig Ranch. Mckinney.

They are not posting the spring schedule on UNT website. However, Next Game is a home game at UNT field Tuesday night 7:30p vs a Canadian National Team

Just FYI , Craig Ranch is at the intersection of 121 and Alma road on the north side of 121. From Denton , ( the fastest , less traffic way ) go east on HWY 380 , take a right on Custer road , then a left on Stacy ( FM 720) in front of the new Walgreen's. Alma is about a mile and half down the road , take a right and you will run into the soccer fields at Craig Ranch

Still no word on whether we will get a USA National team visit to Denton. That remains unconfirmed

Appears USA match will NOT happen.

Did receive some news that the Canadian game is possibly an exemption to the allowable 5 dates in the spring, and we may be able to get another match in, if we can find a school with an open date left at this late juncture.

Just out of curiousity, but is moving the Women's soccer game for a "big time" opponent the same as it was when the football program played games at Texas Stadium? Could we not host this game here in Denton?

My guess is ND is here on a recruiting swing and wouldn't be willing to play anyone at "their house". Why would you (ND) invite a prospect to a game at a school that basically exposes the competitions facilities "for free" so to speak.

This is actually a tournament, called Panda Cup. Not sure about now, but in the past, it consisted of top college teams looking for Spring games, local Big-Club club teams (Sting, FC Texas, etc), and a contingent of internatiional teams (originally China U-17, U19 I think, hence Panda Cup). UNT played OU there a couple years back, as well as a few other schools. The club teams got to play a mix of College and Intl teams in their approx age group. The college teams got to play 2-3 games solid competition and maybe an intl. ND may be showcasing (several players and recruits for next year are form this area), but more likely primarily they chose the tourney for the Spring climate and the tournament itself.

Gonna have to spin this one...... we looked real good until the manpower shortage (and the referees!) came into play. 19 ND players vs 13 UNT players against that team is tough. We led 2-1 until the 30 minute mark first half. Fast paced half, wore us down. We definitely held our own in first half. Refs allowed two critical non-calls for offsides, both resulting in breakaway goals for ND. We folded mainly from fatigue and good execution by ND. By halftime we were down 5-2. After that we just tried to remain competitive. The last two ND goals were scored fairly late in the second half. Final 7-2

Canada team up next on Tuesday at home 7:30p.

Well this answers my question of why it was not played in Denton - thanks.
