  1. Saw this on the NT soccer facebook page, girls championship rings are out. It mentions the four diamonds on each side represent the programs eight championships, pretty sweet!
  2. NCAA Tournament Noticed Texas Tech took #1 seed Florida State to double OT but lost 3-2. Baylor, who the NT women tied this year and is now ranked #10 nationally lost to powerhouse North Carolina in PK's (sweet 16). Tells me that our young NT team not only had a great year but is right there of doing something really special next year.
  3. Dont forget, this team is very young and only looses two starters. Next year's team will not only win CUSA but will make the run we all want at the NCAA tournament! Great season girls, you always make us proud! Here's a quote from coach Hedlund on the UNT website: Despite the loss, the Mean Green had a historic season for the program notching 16 wins and its third ever trip to the NCAA's. "I couldn't be prouder of my team right now, we simply had an amazing run," head coach John Hedlund said. "Starting with 16 wins and being ranked in the top 10 of the region all year, especially over several SEC schools. We claimed the regular season championship along with the conference tournament championship and of course, being apart of the NCAA tournament. When the girls receive their rings, I think it will finally kick in on what a magical year we all had and the great memories we shared throughout the season."
  4. Heading down shortly to Houston to see our football team beat up on the cougs. Went back and fourth last night (soccer/volleyball matches) Soccer just seems to always take care of business, beating FAU and staying undefeated 5-0 and in first place in the SBC. Volleyball struggled the whole night, just could not get anything going and eventually got swept. I was really hoping this would be VB's year, winning their first SBC championship before heading into CUSA but with two losses now in league play, i just dont see it happening.
  5. Oklahoma State is preseason Big 12 favorites and ranked 7th in the country, would feel better if this game was at home. Went over to OSU's website, was not aware of the winning record we have against Oklahoma State. I imagine the TCU game will be a brawl considering both schools seem to have a large number of DFW players on their roster, should be a great game. This one i should be able to make, have to love the way soccer schedules!
  6. Not understanding why the NT/ LBSU game at A&M is set for 10am? Was thinking of driving down for the day to see the girls play against one of the top teams in the country but the time screws everything up. I guess, i will just make the Oklahoma State game the following week - love to see us pull the upset over the #3 team in the nation!
  7. Count me in, love it when these two schools play!
  8. Great job girls, nice to see this team doing so well especially with all the youth. I look forward to watching them play next week against nationally ranked Baylor, LBSU and Oklahoma State. Soccer Voted Ninth In South Region DENTON, Texas (8/27/12) -- The second edition of the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I poll in the South Region was announced Monday, and North Texas received the ninth-best position in the voting. "It's always nice to be recognized alongside some of the very best teams in the country," said head coach John Hedlund. "The goal for me is that we continue to grow as a team and get better each week and if that happens, everything else will take care of itself." In a field stacked with SEC teams, North Texas received more votes than Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas and South Carolina. Missouri is ranked as the top team in the region, followed by Florida and Tennessee. Texas A&M and Mississippi round out the top-five teams, while LSU, Auburn and Georgia finished just above North Texas at the sixth, seventh and eighth spots. With games against Baylor, Long Beach State, Oklahoma State and TCU remaining in non-conference play, North Texas could make a significant jump in the poll before Sun Belt Conference play begins on Fri., Sept. 21, against Louisiana-Lafayette. North Texas returns to action on Fri., August 31, at home against Texas Southern
  9. I'm in, the girls are fun to watch. Also going to try and make the Baylor, TCU game. Is nationally ranked Oklahoma State and LBSU at home as well? Great schedule!
  10. The OFFICIAL Facebook page of NORTH TEXAS MEAN GREEN SOCCER. Top 25 Texas A&M squeaks by Mean Green 1-0 "So proud of my 15 girls today battling against A&M’s army and the humidity”. - John Hedlund (Corners- 5-4 NT / SOG- A&M 6-4) Always Proud Ladies
  11. Our womens soccer team always seems to bring that intense energy especially against Big 12 foe Baylor who finished 3rd in the Big 12 last fall and is ranked top 25 in the latest poll with a RPI of #14 nationally. A great crowd was on hand to see NT Michelle Young score late in the game on a breakaway to tie the Baylor Bears 1-1. Can't wait to see how we match up against Texas A&M...Now please bring back the mens program so we can have two very successful soccer programs!!!
  12. I'm pretty sure this is being played as part of a showcase tournament called Dallas International Girls Cup. My daughter is playing in it so once I see a finalized schedule I will post here. Most likely the game will be at the UTD Soccer Stadium or Ross Stewart Soccer Complex. Few of the NT players said the game will be played at the Ross Stewart Complex (Dallas Texans new facility)
  13. Agree, we seem to have a nice pipeline into that club. Sting is ranked the #1 club in Texas for girls soccer and #3 Nationally.
  14. Actually this would have tied the greatest upset in NT history. I remember watching the womens soccer team beat Texas 2-1 in OT years ago. Great job ladies on almost pulling off the upset.
