Copied from Scottie:

"As for Dodge, there was little time to celebrate his fourth Class 5A state title in the past five years at Carroll. It was recruiting season, and the Eagles' new coach was starting from scratch. His first signing class had 20 players in it; Hager was his first commitment.

Dodge was no stranger to the Hager family. Bron Hager's father, Britt, was an All-America linebacker at Texas when Dodge played quarterback for the Longhorns from 1982-85.

"My dad thinks Coach Dodge is going to excel as a college coach," Bron Hager said. "With coach Dodge, he thinks I'll have the best coaching possible and that we're going to win a lot of games."

Hager, who doesn't turn 18 until August, hopes to grayshirt next season, meaning his NCAA eligibility clock would not begin until the 2008 season. He said he likely will enroll at Austin Community College this fall before heading to North Texas next January"

Thanks did not know the source. Still curious if this was planned? If not then Dodge could have used an additional scholarship and hold Hager's until next year.
