The Univ. of Phoenix has a new football stadium

Recommended Posts

---The BSC Championship game will be played there this year as will the Super Bowl in 2008.

---We have a football team and a very old stadium (which is never full).

---The catch is that they have bought naming rights to the stadium that the Arizona Cardinals now use. The article states that Univ. of Phoenix has 323,000 students, 39 campuses and a lot of students online.

Just got back from a visit to Phoenix this evening. Brother-in-law told us the same thing. It's a really big stadium, looks kinda' like a UFO (from the highway anyway). It has a movable field that can be pulled out of the stadium on some kind of tracks. Apparently the team practices on the field outside and then it's rolled back in for the games. (Or so I was told.)

If you ever go to Phoenix visit the Heard Museum downtown. It has a wonderful collection of Native American objects (primarily AZ tribes) including Katsina (mistakenly called Kachina) dolls, clothing, pottery, weavings, and jewelry in a beautiful Spanish hacienda style building. Well worth the trip.

GMG!

I was brave enough to buy season tickets for the Cardinals. Aside from the football games themselves, the venue is fantastic! Everything already mentioned is true and wonderful. Add in the air conditioning, the 312 food stations around the stadium, the huge restrooms, the escalator to the upper levels, and seats with backs, arm rests, and drink holders.

Matt Leinart and Edgerin James look like the "real deal." Now if they can just find some offensive blockers that aren't "offensive!" sad.gif

Next time you're in the Phoenix area check it out. The Northwest Phoenix-Glendale area has some of the best sports facilities around for football and Spring Baseball.
