Great idea to copy for next year

Not sure if this has been posted, I just got online after a 3 day hiatus (pesky work)... MTSU did a very cool thing last weekend for their game with Vandy. We could easily do something like this next year with SMU, and people would pay to run the ball for a half mile or so. Watch the video of the whole thing, including game footage... VERY cool idea from the MUTS.

The Phi Delta Theta Fraternity did this in the 90's when North Texas played in Texas Stadium. I know we raised some great $ for ALS. The school loved it. We ran the game ball and there were two flags as well as I recall, One Phi Delt and on UNT. I think we sold one mile legs for $10 ($30 per mile) or something like that and the high bid won the right to run the game ball on to the field and give it to the coach.

It was a lot of fun but also requires some work to contact all the police departments and let them know what you’re doing. In fact through Hickory Creek and Lewisville we were given a full police escort lights and sirens. On year two we even made NBC 5 news.

This would not be a "borrowed tradition" but a continuance of one started a while back. when we played close enough to run the ball from HOME to the game.

AND MY CHEAP PARTING SHOT.

There should be no problem with getting Dickey on board it will fit in well with the run, run, run, punt scheme he likes so well.

One of the fraternities on campus used to run the ball down to TCU when we played against the Frogs in the 1980s. I think it was either the Sigma Nu chapter or the Kappa Sigmas. The runs raised thousands of dollars for children's charities.
