Question about preferred walk on offer - PWO

I saw it worded in an interesting way earlier today:

“”The player receive a preferred walk-on opportunity, meaning he would not receive a scholarship but would be guaranteed a spot on the roster.”

it would be more appealing to be with a PWO you would have the guarantee of a spot on the roster.

Yep. You can have a maximum of 85 scholarship guys, and there are 105 roster spots. So there are 20 more guys who can be on the roster, but not be on scholarship.

Agreed. I knew that the preferred walk-ons had a better chance to make the roster and get playing time or eventually a ship, but I had not seen the guarantee of a roster spot play into it.
