MGB: Notes from fourth practice of fall camp -- defense shines

Brett Vito

Recommended Posts

Synopsis:

Defense good. Still waiting on Jenkins and Hoston, may be a while, Baulkman accilmating, Means to TE, Muhammed is a hack and Vito hates Shanbour.

Oh, scrimmage moved to 9:05am and no news will be given on injuries.

This is really disappointing news about Jenkins and Hoston.  They gave every indication that things were good to go on their twitter accounts.  Not sure if either has a redshirt option available, but grades should be in by now.  If they don't get in the mix soon, I am not sure what kind of position they will be in to contribute this season.

Nothing against Means or Chumley, but man is that a reflection of the old staffs poor recruiting/ talent evaluation.

Maybe the worst 5-year stretch of QB recruiting in NCAA history, just looking at production. 9 QBs signed by Mccarney in those 5 years: Cooper Jones, Andrew McNulty, Brent Osborn, Brock Berglund, Dajon Williams, Josh Greer, Connor Means, Caleb Chumley, and Damarcus Smith. 9 quarterbacks, who had a combined 31 seasons of eligibility left at the time of their signings, combined to win a total of 5 games in which they started at the division 1 level. 1 of which was against FCS Nicholls State.

We didn't exactly have an environment that was conducive to developing QBs.  Personally, I think a couple of those names had tons of potential but we just ran that talent out the door.

But, yeah, you're point still stands...

Yeah, and aren't we chunkin' 20k a month into Mccarneys checking account for the next X years too? Makes me want to strangle RV. Shit. Show.
