  1. If one thing is assured of getting -1's, it's complaining about them.

  2. You know if everyone could respond with a similar response ( agree to disagree) this place could be a lot more pleasant , +1 for you My opinion : Tony has never been a dominant offensive player. I think when people see all his talent & accolades , they assume he's Lebron James like. He's more of a Dennis Rodman type. He is still on the nation's leader board in blocks & rebounds per game The kid plays under a microscope. He's never claimed to be a lottery pick or said " I'm the greatest ". Those comments are all brought on by other people who do not see him on a regular basis. Every interview I've ever seen him do he's always been really humble & has talked highly of UNT. I hope he stays another year to work on his game , he needs it IMO

  3. He seems to have things to say, but I just can't understand what he really means because I don't have a decoder ring.

  4. After the Benford-Brady controversy in Jonesboro, Brady will be looking to really embarrass us Thursday night. He will show just what a classy guy he really is (sarcasm).

  5. The"no opposing opinion allowed" while you constantly slam people for having an opposing opinion is kinda silly, don't ya think?

  6. How long did that thought last? Until tipoff?

  7. That one hurt...never seemed to get anything going for any extended period. Was thinking UNT might pick up the road win...that thought didn't last too long. Ouch!

  10. Man, I would loooooove to recruit against us right about now. "Son, before you go signing with North Texas I want you to consider something. They had an NBA caliber kid there and, when their team tanked with a new coach, the fans blamed THE KID for the bad season. Do you really wanna be a part of that?"

  11. UNT Tennis, ranked #57, topped #30 Arizona for a great win in Denton today by a score of 4-3. Taking the doubles point proved to be big and the match was tied 3-3 awaiting conclusion of the final contest. UNT freshman Agustina Valenzuela, who uses a two-handed forehand and backhand, came back to win the 3rd set (6-4, 5-7, 7-5) to clinch the victory. Lots of pressure for a freshman to lose the second set, but come back to win it with everything riding on her racket. Next up for UNT Tennis: #28 TCU at Denton at 2:00 on Wednesday. It should be another great match--see you there! GO MEAN GREEN!

  13. I didn't even have a beer. Six bucks for a 12oz can of Miller Lite is indeed too inflated, but the fact that it was an option, in the seats, during the game, was nice. One nice thing they had, for the velvet rope crowd, was a club level for basketball. Obviously, I didn't even try to go in there, but you could see it across the arena, people milling about in there. I looked at their website, and I think it's a $1,000 donation plus seats to get in there. Overall, the child and I found the entirety of the production, from the character of the PA announcer, to the quality of cheerleaders and dancers (dude..just..dude), to the striped overall student cheer section tossing out insults "Hey! You're bad at basketball!" to absolutely pale in comparison to what we've got in Denton. Bottom line, $78 million to get 1,300 people in attendance? Where's the ROI on that? Regarding the teams, I noticed that the players on both sides looked small, tiny in fact, and slow compared to the players for North Texas. Neither of these teams should be playing in the same division. But they are, and they would probably both beat UNT right now. What I saw among these small, slow players what acute awareness of where their teammates were, what the plays where, and obvious evidence of practice to execute.

  14. Kram, I do agree that sometimes people are negative too much on this board. I don't think you realize though that through all the jokes, sarcasm, pictures, etc. there is a lot of truth behind the bitching and griping. I have been following NT since 1995 and a lot of issues we have with the AD today are the exact issues we had back then. Don't you think that always blowing sunshine up peoples arses and only looking at the positives is really detrimental to the program? If the promotions dept sux then the truth to the matter is the promotions dept sux and ignoring it doesn't help a thing. Overall, having a glass half empty approach isn't the answer but having a glass completely full isn't either.

  15. I was surprised at the complaining myself. But then I realized that SOME PEOPLE just like to be negative. These kids are trying and some of us can't help but blame them for every little thing. Sad really. Bitch less....GIVE MORE

  18. Folks complaining about free throw shooting need to understand that this is not the NBA. A 72% free throw shooting team in the NCAA is a very good free throw shooting team. A 72% free throw shooting team in the NBA is a poor free throw shooting team. UNT's free throw shooting is ahead of the likes of UCLA, Gonzaga & MI St, to name a few. Free throw shooting is not the problem. Carry on.

  20. Well, that counts for something. I like beer. Let's have beer at Apogee and the Super Pit! Beer drinkers will pay inflated prices for beer at sporting events. So, more concession dollars for UNT. Bring it on! And...btw...no velvet ropes for a beer or two before UNT BB games...just join the Mean Green Club at a very reasonable level and BINGO! Or, just get flyonthewall to bring you in as a guest. No velvet ropes required.

  21. Point proven once again. Who made you Emmitt's keeper? Seems he does a pretty good job for himself. Again, you are a very sad human being. I feel sorry for you and anyone who has to put up with your childishness on a regular basis. You need professional help. My "attacks" as you so inanely call them, came only in response to Emmitt's personal attacks. Fact Jack! Find one were I used any inappropriate language...find it. I can find plenty where both you and Emmitt have. Please go find someone else upon which to spew your constant venom. And get some help.

  23. Nope..the experts know who they are. You don't know? Oh, sure you do. They like to tell us about their BB greatness pretty much on a daily basis. And, no differing opinion dare be allowed...with all that greatness why would anyone dare to share a different opinion? If one dares do so, they seem to have no other option than to "go personal". Seems to me that college grads would have a more extensive vocabulary, and have appropriate options with which to express themselves. Odd.

  25. Well, we shot like 90% from the line the other game. I guess since we're about 72% for the year we were due to hit 50%.

  26. Oh, sure...this gets the -1. Thanks. Filthy and childish language is OK with you, huh? Personal attacks, just fine as well...but respond in perfect able language and you hide behind keyboard and give me a -1. Priceless...care to PM me with your name? Probably not...

  34. I think by your standard that, yes, you have an accurate assessment of who his "fans" are. It turns my stomach to even acknowledge anyone as a fan of this nobody though. My beef is with UNT90's attempt to mix gun control rhetoric (and the ridiculous thought that Dorner is indicative of the dangers of armed law enforcement at large) along with allusions to the "far left" lunatics. It was a blatant attempt to paint the entire left into a corner with the actions (words?) of a select few.

  35. You might try Google, or reading the news every once in a while. There have been groups on Facebook devoted to cheering for Dorner; and yes, they are lefties. Marc Lamont Hill of the Huffington Post referred to Dorner as a "real life superhero to many people." Chris Matthew opposed denouncing the actions of Dorner because, according to him, "It's not that simple. This man may have a real complaint."
    2 points
  36. Uh . . . where have you been? Yes, numerous people (though probably a very small percentage) on the far left have made a hero out of this guy.

  37. Our perpetually "underachieving" ex head coach is up 19 on Miss St and cruising toward 15-8. With "somebody else's players" and BEFORE his top ten recruiting class comes in. Remind me again Andrew, how many top flight recruits are lining up to live our "next year" dream?

  38. We wanted an upgrade in conference so we must wear our big boy pants and show up in decent numbers. Hopefully, there's not a large percentage of alumni with small children that must stay home for trick or treating. Let's sacrifice a little for national television. A good crowd and a good rating could help future contract negotiations. Good Lord willing, I'll be there with 1-3 others.

  39. as a professional gentleman of leisure, i always begin the notice in writing... for no other reason than to prevent a tedious conversation. When it comes to verbal exchanges, less is more. I haven't experienced anyone not getting back in line yet, but if they refused, i would most likely "take action" and "correct" them. you have my most sincere condolences regarding the anguish you encountered during breakfast.

  40. Dorner...best I can tell this completes the list of ex-cop rogue murderers. Feel free to correct me if this list is longer. Regular citizens on the other hand... http://www.bradycampaign.org/xshare/pdf/major-shootings.pdf Admittedly, the referenced site has an agenda...but the listed incidents aren't made up. And, again, I have no beef with a company that wants to harm their own sales to make a point. Seems counter-productive but it's their perogative. I just think the strained allusion to recent gun control measures (of which I'm not necessarily a fan) by citing a single lunatic who just happens to be former police, a clear case of square peg and round hole.

  41. I am curious - when would you ever have or voice frustration about anything UNT related? You never complain or talk negatively about any team you follow? Just trying to understand.

  45. If UNT has a decent season, this game being on TV will do more for recruiting than anything else. Especially if UNT pulls off the win. Some people on here are acting like Haloween really is a big time holiday. Maybe for little kids, buts that about it. You go trick or treating for an hour and it's over. Halloween is not going to affect thousands in attendance. Being on a weekday, yes. Halloween, who cares... If this is the best opportunity to get on TV, you have to take the trade off of losing a few thousand fans that could come to the game if it would have been on a Saturday. We just have to hope the bottom is packed and they pull off the win. Chances are it will be the only college football game on. No brainer. Especially from a recruiting standpoint.

  50. Come on, Rick. Let him feel good about himself thinking that his reversed moral self-righteousness for this poor guy's plight means something. Just never mind that what he said never happens. It was just a thinly veiled attempt to call me a... Racist? No, that's not right... Sexist? No, not that either... Violent homophobe? Ya, that was pretty much the insinuation. You know, because I don't share his beliefs. Kinda funny, actually.
