  1. Not a teacher for pay, but work for free with a boy scout troop. We have several rules that the boys of the troop have to follow. They will say yes/no (sir/mama). If they choose to ware a hat, the hat will be wore correctly. (bill to the front) none of this sideways BS. We do not want to see there underpants. Pull your pants up. If said pants will not stay up on there own, we have rope that they can use to hold there pants up. Very simple rules. Follow these rules and you will not have any problems. Do not follow these rules and the wrath of the scouting forefathers will fall on you like stink on dung. Each youth and there parents are informed of these simple rules. If they do not like this rules tough. They can join another scout troop. Respect is not one of the scout laws, but respect will be given to everyone.

  2. These are all great--I remember most of them. The Oregon State game was so great because that was our first win back at the 1-A level and we never quit that day, even though OSU really blew it late in that game on some bone-headed calls on the offensive side of the ball. The Utah State game in 1997 was great just because Jason Mills ended his career with a win at home with a huge day. MTSU, NMSU, and SMU were all great wins, too. For me, as a 1-a team, I agree with everyone else about that Tulsa game. Tulsa had done something that we have finally caught on to here at UNT--they hired a guy with great enthusiasm that could recruit and gameplan against anyone. Kragthorpe knew that he could win at Tulsa and he knew how important it was for recruiting purposes to absolutely crush UNT anytime they played each other. That game single-handedly marked the end of our days as the best team in the SBC, even if it was OOC. Everyone else knew that our offensive gameplan was too vanilla to stay at the top, along with the fact that our recruiting dropped big time. Looking forward to games in our new stadium and making new memories, just hoping for a lot more good ones than bad!! I just hope we can get more OOC home games in future years like we have scheduled this year. I know that Army and SMU are scheduled for games in Denton in years to come, but I hope that we don't get stuck with only one OOC home game again, like we did most years at Fouts. I fear the home schedule that includes one mid-major or FCS school as the only home game, but hopefully RV is ont he horn to other schools like Indiana and Houston to get games here. Not that the SBC games are bad, but lets face it, we aren't going to see a full house for most of our conference mates. To get the attention of the apathetic alumni/Denton County resident, we need wins over OOC teams that people have heard of, and getting them at home would go a long way into making those great game watching memories!!

  3. I really enjoyed the event last night. It was done up first class all the way. The coaches were great. In hearing JJ talk you got the feeling that he is really excited about his incoming class and has a deep burning desire to erase the memory of one certain 1.7 seconds of time this past season. Coach Aston is D Mac in heels. I loved hearing her mention about how much it torqued her that so many small schools are calling to pay us to come play them, and how she wants to turn that around. She knows she has an uphill battle for sure, like D Mac, but I think with her defensive mindset we will see benefits sooner than later. Overall a great time. Rick

  5. Just a reminder that the deadline for player sign-up is THIS FRIDAY, MAY 20th at 5:00PM (CST). The PLAYER DRAFT will take place SUNDAY, MAY 22nd beginning at 1:00PM (CST). There will be a Chat Room set up for the draft so all can enjoy the fun as our game day captains, GreenStreet and FireFighterRick, draft their respective teams. BTW...the official/unofficial coin has been tossed and GreenStreet will captain the WHITE TEAM while FFR will captain the GREEN TEAM. Harry will post details regarding the draft day chat room soon here on GMG.com. Game Day is JUNE 11th with a start time of 3:00PM. FOUTS FIELD----the last "official" game at Fouts! Player fee is $25 and can be paid at the time of the game when game day shirts are distributed. Cash or Check only please...no access to credit card payments on game day. ALL net proceeds go to the Andrew Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund at UNT. Our net goal is to raise a minimum of $1500 for the fund from this game. You may make a contribution over and above your playing fee and you can do it right here on GMG.Com on the Forum Home page using the PayPal sight set up specifically for that purpose. We DO need some help in reaching our goal. We will also have a silent auction on game day with such items as Rangers Tickets, Club Seats for game, Andrew Smith watercolor print, autographed UNT mini helmets, etc. Everyone is welcome to come and watch the fun and participate in the game day tailgate festivities as well .... strong rumor has it that a Member of the Mean green nation will be cooking up some great brisket to share...everyone is encouraged to bring food, beverages, etc. to the game for their own use and to share with others. Hopefully, we can make this a "community" event and tailgate party...before and after the game. So far we have a dozen or so ex-players from UNT participating in the game...I should say GREAT Ex-Players...this is going to be fun. Still need a referee or two...anyone interested? If so, send me a PM....PLEASE & THANK YOU. Thanks to all who have agreed to play, referee, help set up, who have made donations, who have agreed to sponsor...THANK YOU Brian Futrell and the Billiard Factory...to provide auction items, to cook for the tailgate, etc., etc. Thanks to Harry and GoMeanGreen.Com for all the work and for the sponsorship of this event, to the athletic dept. and staff who have provided us with a place to play and help in arranging game day needs...the list just goes on and on....cannot do this without the help of many. This is going to be great fun. COME OUT and be part of this...you really don't want to miss out! You might even get a chance to meet one of the newest members of the Mean green Nation...young Master Luke Hiatt who is not yet even a month old. Luke's proud grandpa will be doing some great brisket for us......See everyone on the 11th for a fun Saturday!

  7. Sorry for the late reply guys, saw this topic and wanted to post this. Your eagle logo is great, but to compliment this, I came up with this tweak of your alumni association's logo as a letter logo. I removed the star (too busy/other schools like TXST use it a lot too) and repositioned the T vs N. The end result IMO looks pretty sharp and classic and would look great as decals, chrome emblems etc and can be instantly associated with North Texas: Good luck this season and Go Mean Green!

  9. Got there about 45 minutes into it, but enjoyed the caravan last night. The room was just the right size for the event, and it was full all the way to the back, so kudos to those who set it up. Stockyards Hotel was a nice place to have the event, and there were goodies, food, and lots of nice conversation. McCarney was McCarney, and hard not to get infected by his enthusiasm. I'm most impressed by his continued stress of building the defensive side of the football team, but overall I would characterize his comments as candidly, bluntly positive for the long term regarding the football program. Really impressed with Karen Aston and Ken Murczek. They are positive and full of energy and appear genuinely excited to be at UNT. JJ was terrific, and corny jokes were out in full force. As I stood there with my wife, I couldn't help but think that the AD office has made some great hires, and have the pieces in place in many areas. Shook a few hands, said hello to FFR and his brood, and then it was off to Cooper's for BBQ. Enjoyable evening. Can't wait until September.

  10. The Navy game of 07' will always be the best home game of recent years for me. My Grandfather was in the Navy and it was a fun way for us to kind of "talk smack" that day in November. The record setting day was an extra benefit. I have to add this was a toss up. The SMU game in 06' was great as well. I wish Woody Wilson had developed into something big.

  13. I was at the Tech game in 1989?. We stayed in the Lubbock Inn across the street from campus. The next morning I came down to breakfast wearing a UNT shirt and I can honestly tell you that I've never received so many dirty looks in my life.

  16. Funny, I actually thought that was a pretty tough lineup of classes for a first semester freshman. Then again, the questioning posts comes from someone who would put 5 forwards in the basketball starting lineup next year. Maybe someone needs to tell Skiver that Tony isn't in medical school... yet.

  22. --- A good post with reasonable thought. --- I agree that there almost had to be some officials in Pakistan that knew or had an extremely good idea of where Bin-Laden was... the location is very suspicious besides.... near a military school and near many retired army personnel. How many houses that are unusually large (and noticeable) that are within a couple of miles of you do you not know or wonder about who lives there?? --- As for Gitmo... When any person takes over an administrative position they often learn that earlier opinions do change.... They learn about things they didn't know and even conditions changes as well.. [even in football coaches change game plans as the game changes] Gitmo is nothing like it was being operated prior to 2009.... a lot less people there and apparently not the same activities going on... we just don't know... but the worst of the worst are still there... and good deal. --- on other issues, just remember when the debt went out of control and who had in charge of Congress for years before then .. [ they influence the budget more than the White House anyway.. they pass the legislation ] Some people simply vote on ONE issue {I don't want to get that started ] and not who is the most capable of running the government and doing what is right. ---If the guys in Austin had done what was right in earlier sessions Texas would not have one of the worst 3-4 budget problems... after all Texas may have the best economy in the USA now. Those who are in education [ students and employees] will get to "pay" for their failures. --- I don't care politically who got him and hope no one tries to make it very political ... the important thing is ... we got him... and we are all better for it. The way we did it suits me fine... the situation seemed to indicate there were people in Pakistan that really shouldn't be trusted.... and we really don't know which ones. . .

  26. Wait -- Officer Pissy Pants McLonghorn is a... YANKEES FAN!? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. No wait. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. I go all the way back to Chili Davis. Look at me! Seriously, I have a 92 year-old grandmother who lives in CT and cheers for the Yankees and I just wish for her to fall down the stairs every time she brings it up. The real story in this thread is the bastardization of baseball history. We all know Pee Wee Robinson, (aka Mr. October) led the New York Giants to the World Pennant first.

  29. Arkansas State thinks scoring 82 points is no big deal. For hockey, I think I've scored 30 in a video game once. I shudder to think about what the conversion ratios are for this score for premiball.

  30. This thread title made me hope for the sequel to 2girls1cup. I am severely disappointed. POLITICS IS BACK! HOORAY! I can't wait to finally have someone help me stop being undecided. But which of you will post the smartest item? Will it be UNTPlaymaker's upcoming diatribe on universal health care? Chrisfishers' breakdown of the Iraq War? A guest visit from CheckFacts to teach me about Obama's resume? A treatise on Sarah Palin by KRAM1? That's the beauty of democracy - IT COULD BE ANY ONE OF THEM - OR EVEN ALL FOUR! God bless America!

  33. Once again the SEC is showing why there is no comparison from the Big XII. This Aggie team beat UT, Nebraska and OU. This LSU team wasnt at the top of the SEC. That's why going undereated in the Big XII isnt that great. "If they had to play the SEC instead of the sisters of the poor they wouldnt be unbeaten."

  40. Best Game- 2006, 24-6 win over smu. Maybe our biggest win in the series. Their team was really awful. Worst Game- 2005, 54-2 lose to Tulsa. That games was the start of our long painful downturn we are still trying to correct. Worst Coached Game- 2009, 17-13 lose to Army. Up 13-10 on the Army 16 yard line, Dodge called two timeouts in a row. Knott's low field goal attempt gets blocked. Steelman's 55 yard run puts Army on the North Texas 7 yard line. Two plays latter Army takes the lead with a touchdown. On the second play of our last drive R. Dodge throws an INT, icing the game. It was very sad night. ai don't know when Dodge lost the confidence of his players, but looking back, that might have been the night he lost mine. I continued to support our team and him as our coach, but felt we needed to move in a new direction.

  43. I don't know why Love's comments were deleted, but to his assertion that he would like to be contacted by phone by an athletic staffer, my question would be: Then you wouldn't want to be contacted by someone who shares a common interest, who would be willing to contact you multiple times, maybe even invite you to an organized UNT activity (you know, like a tailgating event where you could become involved with other Alumni), constantly keep you updated with what is going on in the sports programs at UNT. You would instead prefer one phone call, from a staff member, asking you for money. You must be the only human alive that likes telephone solicitors.

  46. I think the Mean Green Club Rep program was a great idea and long overdue for the Mean Green. The folks UNT has hired to move this program forward are doing a great job of working with the volunteer reps and finding new members on their own. It's a start and I find some of those who tend to find something to complain about a bit like the "grumpy old guy" who thinks everything is dumb, bad or 'they should have asked me because I know better". Funny how some folks like to find the negatives in even some great news...like a paid staff for UNT working daily to help improve the program and gain supporters, ticket buyers, Club members, etc. What, does anyone here really think it's an easy job at UNT to increase support levels? Does anyone think it can be done overnight after all the years of neglect by UNT "fan base"? This "ain't easy", and it will not happen overnight, and, yes, there will be mistakes made along the way...so be it! Steps are being taken to improve this program every day...why knock the efforts being made? It is more fun to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem and part of the past. The past is the past and it's GONE! It's a new day for the Mean Green and one that has taken a pretty long time in getting here for the Mean green faithful. Time to leave the past behind and get on with the moving forward. All volunteers are welcome and all donations...big or small...are welcome. So, enjoy being part of the new Mean Green. It has really been fun so far, and it's only going to get better. See you in Ft. Worth for tonight's Caravan....I'm guessing that if you have been around this program for awhile you will not find the attendance "lame" as one of our members posted earlier. I remember meetings with Coaching staff members present when you could count the attendance on both hands and have a finger or two left over. Lame this new attendance is not...should there be more...OF COURSE...will there be more...ABSOLUTELY. Come be part of the solution. GO MEAN GREEN!
