  2. You simply cannot trust politicians. Ever. All politicians are for sale. Power will corrupt. These people are after one thing only... power. Regardless of which party you identify with, 99.9% of people who run for any kind of public office are power-hungry, untrustworthy, elitist a-holes with an almost non-existant desire to represent you or me. Sorry for the rant... I promise I'll never comment on politics again! Have a nice day. Go Mean Green!

  3. Nice logo. I've seen games at Fouts off and on for almost 40 years. It has unique memories for me and every visit is like a step back in time. However I do look forward to us finally joining the modern era of football!

  5. Here we go again...Congressman Eric Massa of NewYork (a democrat in a republican leaning district) said yesterday that he would not seek another term...cited health reasons. However, House ethics investigators are looking into alleged sexual harassment charges...male aide in question here. What's with these guys???? We also have Charlie Rangel finally...FINALLY...stepping down from his leadership position due to continuing ethics investigations. This is getting to be too much and it saddens me to no end to see this seemingly day after day parade of our senators and representatives with ethics charges and sexual "misadventures", etc., etc., etc. We really should see a higher level of ethics from these guys. Do they have absolutely no self-respect and do they really think they are above the law? It is truly a sad day. I care less that the latest two are democrats...they could have easily been Republicans. It is the fact that this stuff is going on at all...much less at the level it is. Sad so very sad and it really does bother me. This is not what we should expect from the leaders of this great nation of ours.

  6. All this talk of our new WR coach and our new OC got me thinkin, what is the difference between our old staff and our new one... 2007 Coaches: HC: Todd Dodge OC: Todd Ford High School wizard and current High School HC. Career highlight were record breaking offensive seasons for NT in 07 and 08 DC: Ron Mendoza DC at Southlake before 1 season here and currently he is........ Special Teams: Robert Drake HC coach for 17 seasons at Southlake before joining the Mean Green in 2007 Running Backs: Shelton Gandy Has done a fantastic job with the runners hee at NT, helping Lance Dunbar to national acclaim in 2009 Wide Recievers: Clayton George NT Alum and helped turn Fitz into one of the best Mean Green players of all time. Defensive Backs: Butch LaCroix Spent 13 seasons away from football to take over a defensive backfield that really needed help Off. Line: Spencer Leftwich 2nd time around here at NT and a good amount of FBS experience including time at Tulsa. The offensive line is one of the Mean Green's strong points going into the 2010 season Safeties: Chuck Peterson One of the most experienced staff members of the originals, 17+ seasons as FBS including stints as OC at Air Force Defensive Ends: David Rausch A very young coach, he spent time at Hardin Simmons and OSU before coming to the Mean Green 2010 projected coaches HC: Todd Dodge New Coaches ---- OC: Mike Canales Very experienced OC with time spent in the NFL. Helped to build USF from a startup school to a BCS power quickly DC: Gary Deloach The architect of arguably the best defense in NT history, made great strides in overall defense since his return Corner Backs: Carlton Buckles 3 Seasons at NMSU prior to arriving at UNT Defensive Line: Mike Nelson 40 years as a coach including 29 as a defensive line coach at places like Virginia, Ball State, Wisconsin, Missouri, Kansas State, Stanford, Rutgers, Oregon State and Iowa State Strength and Conditioning: Charr Gahagan 8 years working at USC, considered one of the up and coming strength coaches in the nation and fills a huge hole for the NT football program Wide Recievers: Greg Peterson Previously at KSU and other aq schools Returning Coaches Shelton Gandy, Chuck Peterson, Spencer Leftwich I don't know what I am trying to prove here, but just from looking at it I would say I like the lack of high school coaches and the addition of true Div 1 talent.

  7. I think we have a good shot at this tourney, but for some reason or another, I think MTSU has the best shot to knock us out, we might be poised to play them in the semi's What are yall thoughts I picked NT to win the entire tourney and they really do have the makings for an upset if we reach the big dance.

  8. Today's D-RC notes that the SBC tournament semi-finals will be televised on Charter Cable channel 25. (both men's and women's). If the men make it to the Monday game....it's scheduled to start at 8:30. I'll be in Hot Springs, but for those who can't make it....this offers you a chance to see the game. Go Mean Green!

  9. I think that is a very good analysis, UNT is a favorite and they have to be determined in where they want to go in this tourney.....Plenty of time to prepare though for any team....

  10. Let's start beating big name teams, in both football and basketball, and start making some noise in the tournament. Then people will figure our real school name out. People are ignorant by nature.

  11. Interesting perspective: **************************************************** "The spring is different than the fall because you are not working with brand new guys for the most part. In the fall the new guys are in shock, almost. They have been the best athlete on the field since Jr. High, and suddenly they are getting their ass whipped every play, but it is a teaching experience. After they get whipped you can say "Try this, or move your feet more." and they find they are able to compete if they are willing to keep fighting. They find out that every play is going to be a tough matchup, and they have to fight every play to be able to compete. We keep running fresh players at them to wear them down to see if they will continue to fight when they are tired. But that is the fall, in the spring you look at who had the discipline to keep themselves in shape, who learned their lessons and who didnt."

  12. They probably just made it for the last game and leaked it now because that made the most sense. I would passive-aggressively question it until they hand you a marketing plan.

  14. I don't think it should expand, but not because this F Face said so. We have our chance right now to make the tourney. If they let more teams in, it would just add more disparity between the 1 and 90+ seeds. The likelihood of an upset would be incredibly slim. Also, what seed would the SunBelt autobid conference winner get in that field? That guy's a prick. I'd like to see our starters run a 10 deep train on his Eastern Washington Sheryl Swoops and start something big.

  15. That's the best I've ever seen fouts look.

  16. I think this is a fantastic idea. For all the negatives to complain about with Fouts, it is the place of many memories for everyone on this board. I'm glad the A.D. is sending it out in style. I know in the future, I'll look over from the new place at the parking garage that will be there and remember the good 'ol days!

  19. Does this not concern anyone: Greg Peterson enters his second season at Colorado State, his 26th year in the profession. He joined the Rams on Jan. 14, 2008. Peterson not only served as the Rams' offensive coordinator, but also coached the wide receivers... So he has gone from the Mountain West Offensive coordinator to a struggling SunBelt WR coach?!

  22. Could you not paraphrase...so as to actually provide an actual frame of reference rather than just biasly re-wording something that could be easily reproduced and then commented upon? That'd be swell.

  26. It's democratic. I voted in the republican primary for the first time. I feel kind of dirty. Early returns look very good for Perry. He's going to make a run for the White House in 2 years and I think he stands a good chance at getting the Republican nod. Republicans won't vote for Romney. They just won't. Palin seems too fringe. And Ron Paul is a Libertarian, not a Republican. Perry has money and the same charm Bush had. Also, he will go negative early and often.

  28. I am not sure why you care, last I checked you were spouting some crazy liberal agenda, not like you would vote for any of above republicans anyway. Low taxes is not the same as low revenues, low taxes attract business and growth. Plus high taxes do not guarantee more money for parks and schools. New York has some of the highest taxes in the land, and they are deep in debt. They haven't had money to fund their parks department for years, they used to have great parks in the state. Their Appalachian trail used to be incredible to hike. But the last ten plus years the parks have lost all funding in favor of extreme social programs that bleed them dry. So these once wonderful trails are now over grown and the foot bridges, steps, and other improvements these trails once had are falling apart. Maybe you would be better off living in New York, maybe California where you can feel better and pay much higher taxes.

  29. I'd add MUTS and Troy to the "not winnable" list. They were just too far ahead of us last season to reasonably think we've made up that ground in this short period of time. So that's at least 4 losses that I see. On the other hand, I think this team with experience and the coaching upgrades will be able to turn those 4-7 point losses from last season into 4-7 point wins. Sooooooooo...I don't see 7 wins as impossible at all.

  30. --Now I am considered a liberal because I opposed the last administration doubling the national debt. That seems like a conservative item to me. There is a sign in my yard supporting a GOP local judge and a supreme court (GOP) candidate was in my den when the Cowboys lost to Minnesota. You have no clue... I served as an election judge today for 14+ hours... What did you do besides post messages. . True -- I don't care for Perry... He is killing education and increasing tuition and causing local taxes to be raised like crazy by cutting state funding.... despite his claims. You have no clue about anything about me.

  31. In referencing back to Harry Reid's ridiculous comments during last week's summit about how it is the Republicans, not the Democrats, who continue to bring up "Reconcilation". 32. No, in fact it is "democrat". You are a democrat and a member of the democrat party. That is no slur...sorry you seem to take it that way. If you voted in the Republican primary, then you probably had to wait in line for the first time.
    -1 points
  33. Intellence or arrogance? I report, you decide. And I refuse to use the word democratic to describe the Democrat party. No way in hell the Republicans nominate "Big hair" Perry for President. He is George W. Bush Ultra Light in national conservative circles. Although if Pres. Obama continues on the current course, George W. Bush Ultra Light may be what the country will be desiring.
