Cold, wet forecast for C-USA football championship

HUNTINGTON — Forty-one degrees and 30 percent chance of rain.

With that type of weather forecast, it sounds like a December day in Huntington.

Instead, that is the estimated temperature for kickoff of the Conference USA football championship at noon Saturday at Rice Stadium in Houston.

“That’s Huntington weather exactly, 41 and rain,” Marshall offensive tackle Garrett Scott said.

If that forecast holds true, it will represent nearly a 65-degree turnaround from the last time the teams met at Rice Stadium on Sept. 22, 2012.

Thundering Herd players recalled some memories of that hotly-contested 54-51 double-overtime win.

All puns intended.
