Thought this interesting, North Texas getting a high rating.

Nine schools received an A in the inaugural hiring report card from the Black Coaches and Administrators report which was issued Thursday.

The report card looked at 20 schools from the 120 in major conferences, which are the schools eligible for the Bowl Championship Series in football. It broke down the hiring process into four categories: communication with the BCA, number of minorities on the search committee (as a ratio of the total group), number of minorities interviews (as a ratio of the total group), and how long the search process lasted. The results of each were scored and combined to give schools a final grade. A two-point bonus was added if a coach of color was hired.

Of the nine schools that received A grades, five hired coaches of color and North Texas and Miami (Ohio) received the highest point totals. Mississippi State, TCU and Tulsa also scored an A and hired coaches of color.

LSU and Virginia Tech were the only schools to receive an F -- for not responding to the survey request. Both schools did hire black coaches.

And that right there shows why these kind of ratings and assessments are usually garbage. "If you don't play by my arbitrary rules, you get an F."

Give every qualified candidate a fair shake, regardless of race; and hire the best candidate, regardless of race--if that happens, no one should have a problem.

"The report also gave North Texas high marks for hiring the only coach to wear sunglasses on a 24 hour basis, the only school in the BCS to do so. For this the SWCA (sunglasses wearing coaches association) gave North Texas an A+, though offensive predictability on the field was not factored in to the final mark"

It's studies like this that perpetuate the environment of racism to occur... The black community continues addressing this. It needs to stop. I'm fairly certain that Benford being black was not one of the top 2 or 3 reasons for hiring him.

RV was not sitting in his office thinking, "We need a black coach.."

"We're all black friends..."
