Speaking of hand-to-hand combat...if we dropped all 44 presidents into a Roman Coliseum style venue, armed with a hunting knife, who would come out on top of a to-the-death mass knife-fight?

I'd bet on Teddy Roosevelt first. Lincoln, Grant and Jackson would probably represent too.

Early favorites have to be TR and Jackson. Grant could be drunk-strong and make some noise, but he'd wear down and do something stupid. I'm not as high on Lincoln as some are... strikes me as more the intellectual type and is a bit waifish.

Don't underestimate the more modern-day bosses based on size alone. If we're talking in their prime, Gerald Ford has to be in the discussion.... and don't sleep on GHWB, who has the size, training, and legendary survival instinct to be in the mix.
