Game: LSU vs. North Texas at Tiger Stadium

Date: September 1 at 6 p.m.

Television: ESPNU

North Texas coach Dan McCarney is quite familiar with his LSU counterpart Les Miles.

Both played in the Big Ten Conference at the same time in the 1970s - McCarney at Iowa and Miles at Michigan. Both were head coaches for a four-year stretch in the Big XII Conference in the early 2000s - McCarney at Iowa State and Miles at Oklahoma State.

Then, McCarney was an assistant coach at Florida from 2008-10 while Miles was the head coach at LSU.

Now, McCarney will begin the second year of his rebuilding job with the Mean Green with a game against Miles' LSU team in Tiger Stadium. McCarney knows what he is up against in his team's opener against the Tigers.

"I know the type of program Les has down there at LSU," McCarney said. "He has done a great job. But, I can't worry about who they have as a first-round or second-round (NFL draft pick). We have to be able to go down there and not give in to adversity.

Hey Coach Mac, don't forget to pick up that big ole check that LSU owes us, and keep our young men safe down there.

I know I'm the only one, but I hate the idea of being a big school's whipping boy for a big check.

I know the money we make and exposure we get is extremely beneficial. I understand all of that. (At least we will be on the big network)

I know upsets happen every year, I believe in our team. However, Appalachian State was a miracle. Miracles don't happen every year. I just like seeing us win, and play within the same level of talent that we are recruiting. We will get there one day, but we aren't there yet. IMHO :D

      SB vs Wichita State (4/26)

      Nice walk off win in the 9th....4-3....on a homer by Molly Rainey. All three homers today by seniors....Molly, Kailey Gamble (tied it at 3 in the 7th)...and Kalei Christensen....with a solo blast for our first run. Skylar gets the win....in relief of Mackenzie Wagoner. Great win.....game two coming up soon.

      This is the point I think has never been critically consider because of the greed of EVERYONE ELSE besides the players. The old system was never sustainable because the schools had very little invested in the players actually getting the best education available at their schools. If guaranteed 4 year scholarships (with an option after 2 years) were the standard or breakable by the student I don't think we have the madness of today. The other major part is the lack of standardization and revenue sharing for all school playing at a particular level. How do you expect the players or coaches to have any loyalty when the schools have no loyalty to protect the health overall college sports. 🤷🏽‍♂️

      Somebody explain how the runner that was hit with the batted ball was called safe? These umpires are horrible.

      Good. Offer them a NIL deal and let them pay for their education. They shouldn't receive both.

      Wichita St with a wind aided HR in the top of the 5th to make it 2-1. Waggoner is pitching a heck of a game, but we need a few runs to pad the lead.
