  1. We did not get in because of our name. We got in because they actually looked at our one and two possession losses against Q1 and Q2 teams. Our NET ranking is also not horrible, on par with South Florida. I was surprised that we did get in, but our resume supports it.
  2. Who is paying for all of this? Especially on our level, who is going to fork over their money year after year so some 18 year old can drive a nicer car than they do? Most athletic departments aren't exactly rolling in free cash. I don't see how this ends well.
  3. It isn't a competition for the best basketball teams, it is a competition for the best brand$. God forbid we have a repeat of last year...
  4. Tonight wraps up regular season conference play for Women's Soccer in the American. Coming in to tonight, UNT currently sits in the eighth spot in conference standings, with a conference record of 2-3-3 (9 points). SMU currently sits 4th overall at 4-3-1 (13 points). The American Athletic Conference Tournament, held next week in Lakewood Ranch, Florida will host eight teams, #1-2 consisting of the two division winners (currently sitting first and second overall), and seeds #3-8 based on overall conference points. A win by UNT tonight would clinch a trip to Florida, and depending on the performance and tiebreakers vs. Charlotte (3-3-2, lost head-to-head) and FAU (3-2-3, head-to-head draw) can land a seed between 6-8. If UAB (1-3-4) loses or ties against Temple (0-8) tonight, UNT will clinch a spot in the tournament. However, if UAB wins, and UNT ties SMU, both UNT and UAB will each have 10 points. We did not play UAB this season, so the tiebreaker will depend on record vs. common opponents, which I did not calculate. Finally, A UNT loss and a UAB win would mean the end of the season for the Mean Green. So, it is important that everybody come out tonight at 7pm CDT to our final home game of the season. Go Mean Green!
