UNT Game Preview: Mean Green Sports

SMU Preview: SMU Athletics

I will post updates from the Mean Green Soccer complex come gametime at 7pm.

SMU is 4-2-1 on the year. They have had several games of interest. The opened the year with a 1-0 win over a good FIU team, that UNT will have to find a way to beat Oct. 15th in Denton. On Sunday SMU took down UNM 1-0, a team that UNT managed a 2OT draw with. Losses have come against Portland, and Oklahoma State, with a draw against Oregon. SMU is ranked 8th in the Central Region.

UNT is coming off a strong weekend at the Red Raider Classic that included a 0-1 loss to a likely soon to be ranked Texas Tech Squad, and an easy 3-0 win over Lamar. Kelsey Perlman was named offensive MVP of the Tournament and Michelle Young made that all-tournament team.

Last Meeting: 2009 - In Dallas, SMU took a 1-0 victory after an odd goal. The original shot took a deflection and fell right to the feet of an attacker who put it in the net for SMU. UNT looked the better team in my opinion but did not get the win.

Prediction: It is hard to pick against the Mean Green at home. I see a Baylor-esque game from last year. 2-1 Mean Green.

unfortunately Soccer = Football in the rest of the world, disappointing blowing 2 leads to lose in the end.

It was the same sort of feeling as after the Rice football game. We played well enough to win but just couldn't do it. This pretty much sums it up:  Thankfully though conference is about to start. They have showed they can compete with great teams, hopefully they can beat them come NCAA tourney time.
