If Gas Prices Increase, Blame Humberto

Recommended Posts

An "instant hurricane" hits the upper Texas coast. Screw this. I'm going to retire in Denton.

Hurricane Humberto

Don't get me started on the gas prices. I get so TIRED of the excuses that we hear of why it's going up. Last year it went to over $3 and they said it was the cost of oil, and now it is 2.50 and oil is the highest it has been in years.

Whatever.

Actually it was a combination of crude prices and government-mandated switchover to summer blends. It's why gas prices are always highest right before Memorial Day.

Supply and Demand... it works every time.

Exactly. Except that, in this instance, the invisible foot of the government (gas taxes, enviro mandates, etc.) helps to keep the prices high. Oh, and not to mention that we haven't built a new refinery in this country since the 1970s. <_<
