Western Kentucky vs Southern Illinois

Southern Illinois, the defending Missouri Valley Conference champion, is 6-1. The Valley is rated a better conference than the Big Twelve by Sagarin (MVC 6, Big Twelve 7) and by the RPI formula (MVC 3, Big Twelve 8).

This game was one the most exciting games I've watched on TV for while. Western Kentucky lost by 3, but WKU is a GREAT team. WKU plays very similar to us: they started the game off down a bunch very quickly, perimeter passing, looking for the open 2 point jump shot or 3 shot, and they send the ball to their big man under the basket some but were not completely dedicated to it. They are very fast and athletic too. We will have our hands full, as will they.

We'll have to play our best game of the year to even have a shot IMHO.

I think that we might actually split with Western Ky this year. They will win at home and we will win in Denton. We have come close to beating them in Denton with less talent than what we have now. It will be tough to beat them in Owensboro, but who knows.
