Southern Miss (1/19/17)

It's such a shame on many fronts.  One area in particular is recruiting for football.

A competitive basketball season along with a roaring home crowd atmosphere on a Saturday night used to be a great scene for impressing recruits.

For SL's first full recruiting season that option is now lost for good. Another reason why the guy should have never been allowed to coach this season.

Trying to keep it positive, the horse is way past dead.  I am excited to see what NT's two freshmen; Woolridge and Lawson can do with a competent coach.   They make a lot of mistakes, but the talent and energy level is definitely there.

I also liked to see Combs on the bench most of the second half.  Combs is just not healthy enough to be playing and it is painful to see him for the most part getting schooled by much lesser players.

USM crowd was about as sparse as NT's.

And Benford has a real chance to lose 20 games three times in five years.

There is no doubt that happens. Unless UNT pulls a pretty big upset, they are staring 0-10 in conference play dead in the face (if Benford isn't fired). That would put them at 6-16 on the year.

Just end it after the massacre at La. Tech, for cripes sake.
