SI says Will Muschamp wouldn’t take Sam Ukwuachu as a transfer

Not good news for Baylor and Briles in particular:

Although Baylor coach Art Briles maintains he did not know about Sam Ukwuachu's past history of violence against a woman at Boise State before accepting him as a transfer, at least one other school did.

Florida considered taking Ukwuachu in May 2013, but then-Gators coach Will Muschamp decided against it after a Boise State athletic department employee detailed Ukwuachu's troubles with a girlfriend, according to two former Florida athletic department employees.

That included the former freshman All-America defensive end's alleged physical abuse of his girlfriend and an allegation that Ukwuachu put his fist through a window while drunk at the couple's home, one of the ex-staffers said. (Ukwuachu was not charged in either incident.)

"There was no way," one of the former Florida employees told The Inside Read of Ukwuachu. "[Muschamp] wouldn't touch him."

This doesn't make sense. First, the girlfriend testified last Friday that she didn't report the abuse to anyone, anywhere, until the Waco DA questioned her, she just reported he had broken a window. Then Briles, Peterson, Ukwuache and his high school coach have all said he wanted to return to a college in Texas. That's why Peterson initiated the call to Briles. Where did Florida come up in all of this?

I notice there are no names attached, just "former athletic department employees" and the article did not mention the girl friend's testimony that she hadn't reported it before the Waco DA investigated, at least that's what was in the Waco paper.

Baylor is about to get really, really burned for all of this...its not unfathomable that the only thing that comes out of this is that Briles gets fired. At this point, Briles, the AD Ian McCaw, and Ken Starr are all on very hot seats, and the NCAA is going to have something to say about this, since Baylor is just a private school, not some big state school behemoth that brings in tons of cash (I.e., Penn State).
