  1. He should stay at UNT for one more year. Take graduate courses. He will regret leaving college if he moves on. College was the best 7 years of my life. Fun times.

  6. Not unexpected, but I still don't like it. This graduate transfer process is great for the players, but not so good for fans. The obvious result is the better players are going to move up to more prestigious schools and it will serve to widen the gap between the have and have-nots. The concept is very flawed. The schools are paying for summer schools for athletes that allows them to transfer early. I wonder if schools are going to start limiting the summer schooling which has become a standard benefit at most colleges. In fact, athletes are almost forced to go to summer school if they don't have the money to pay for their own food and lodging during the summer. I wish against all odds, that the NCAA would take steps to curtail this graduate transfer procedure. Woolridge did a great job at NT and we all should thank him for his contributions. Unmatched quickness and fantastic effort were part of his game. Frankly however, what he does at his next college, holds little interest to me.

  7. Many of us were complaining most off-season about the lack of action going on in basketball recruiting. Now, we have too many players. Good spot to be in, honestly...

  10. The Blue Raiders are 10-11 in C-USA. An odd Thursday night rematch and win over UAB yesterday broke a 6 game losing streak that saw the blue raiders get swept by wKY and Marshall. It looks like middle’s two main pitchers are freshmen Corrina Dodd and Kailey Ahlstrom, both with over 111 innings pitched with 3.33 and 3.57 era’s. There’s another, a sophomore named Bailey that has a 2.77 era and is 5-1 on the season but she hasn’t pitched lately. No idea if she’s injured or what. Middle has one solid win over a non ranked Iowa team. They are barely above .500 but will certainly be a tough opponent. Rick

  11. A healthy Woolridge could start for the vast majority of college teams. I think his problem is going to be having to prove that he is completely heathy and likely to stay that way. People overlook what a good defensive player Woolridge is.

  12. I see him taking over from Miller but being 3-4” taller. We will see him and Zach on the floor at the same time. I don’t believe Smart starts with this line up based off of last year. If Smart isn’t scoring it could be tough because his D and ball handling skills are limited. The 2 new guards are good at the line which could limit Wooly in the last minutes of close games. Very exciting times!

  14. Completely agree. Mccasland wants skill out of his four. It doesn’t have to be a guard. And Geu has some quality suitors. I doubt he comes here with the intention of being a backup for his senior season

  15. my guess is Vito is allowed to comment on Bell's spot being secure, but not whose spot it's actually secure in place of...clearly someone other than Woolridge...until that player/team announces for him/theirselves.

  22. Mods can move if they wish, but when any of our teams are playing for conference championships, it should get football board publicity. Opponent is Middle Tennessee. Double Header Saturday beginning at 1pm. Game 3 on Sunday at noon. If NT wins all three it is guaranteed the CUSA regular season championship and #1 seed in the conference tournament by virtue of its head to head tiebreaker with La Tech. We need to pack the stadium this weekend with fans. Even if you haven't paid the least bit of attention to softball so far this year, make a point to go out and support. If you demand big time wins before supporting a team, well this team has them. Two top 25 wins including one over a top 10 team (and that team is STILL in the top 10 today). Almost certainly the biggest series in the history of NT softball. Let's pack the stadium for it. GMG!

  23. As much as NT HOF qualifications continue to slide, I doubt a third team all conference player on teams that never came close to a conference championship would even be in the conversation.

  25. end of last season and that's where my money was. wasn't sure what his graduation status looked like, but I figured he'd either grad transfer or jump down a level to a place he could find 30 shots a night and not be the main focus of Grant's ire.

  26. Ryan has carried this team for the past 2 seasons (moreso last season with Rose's struggles). It is going to be painful to lose him, but hopefully Jackson is ready to play immediately and/or Gibson is ready to handle point more.

  28. I've been following the posts concerning this young man and I have grown more excited about him. I think Coach McCasland has found a real gem here and we will all be pleasantly surprised with the player's contributions to the team. Since I first read about his recruitment, I have have been holding back my inner smartass. After seeing his video and what he brings to UNT I can no longer resist... Deng Geu... Deng Geu very much!!

  30. NT will be pretty heavy favorites, but with La Tech playing great; they need to sweep the series. A tall order against almost any CUSA team. Hopefully, being the last scheduled home game and with the importance of the series; NT is up to the task. As an aside, was the Scrappy designation of soccer as the best NT team a little premature? Softball still has a chance of equalling soccer's success and even bypassing it with a post conference win. I know it is a timing thing, but it could create an interesting debate.

  31. Odds against that, McCasland wants a four guard offense. There maybe a few games with both on the court, but I doubt it happens much. If he goes away from 4 guard offense; he will play Bell at the 4.

  33. Not sure anyone is giddy. However, if you check their message board you will see pages and pages of comments mostly very complimentary of this player. This guy didn't start, but he is a D1 transfer with very good numbers based on only playing 18 minutes a game. Looks like a near perfect player to back up Z. Simmons to me, maybe NT's biggest need.

  34. If it were not for Fine, Woolridge would be my favorite current NT player. I hope he stays, but obviously he has to do what he thinks best. Woolridge's talent can not be replaced. Yes, the incoming guards look stellar, but so have a lot of recruits that fall way short of Woolridge talent. I have never seen a team that has over signed, announce whose scholarship is not going to be renewed until that player transfers. They may not even know at this point It will probably come down to Mohammed, Alcindor or Tikhonenko. Draper is another possibility, if he decides he doesn't want to stay another year with probably a reduced role. I do think it will be his decision not the school's.

  35. Would love to take in one more season of Woolridge's composure and calm leading the team but - even though it opens up options for him to consider leaving Denton - more than anything, I'm glad to hear that he'll be securing his degree in May. He's given a lot to this program and will stand as a key contributor to its culture change whether he laces them up here one next year or not.

  36. True, but these kids are limited in the number of free campus visits they can take. If he wants to use one to come to Denton, I would jump all over it and promote the heck out of it that he is visiting. It is never a bad idea to get a 4 star kid on campus. You never know what motivates their decision, and he can't say yes if we don't ask.

  37. Exactly what I've been thinking. I don't know what our chances are of landing a top recruit, but to me it's worth it just to see our name out there with other "known" national programs.

  39. They can't answer if we don't offer. Sometimes I wonder if we offer just to get recruits used to seeing our name out their listed with the P5 programs. Not a bad idea. It could create curiosity and cause some recruits that see us to investigate our school. Getting your name out there is never a bad idea.

  43. NDSU fan here. You will not be disappointed with Geu. Dude works hard and has some nice post moves. Can hit an occasional 3. Not a bad defender and has ability to guard players bigger or smaller than him. Sad to see him leave, as I really thought he deserved more playing time.

  44. This is huge. We got our top targets instead settling which is a huge step forward. @Harrythe fact that he has committed makes me think he was pitched with a chance to start after being a stalwart on the bench at NDSU. So maybe not a 4-guard look after all. Also note, his stats were accumulated while averaging just 18 minutes per game. He has the shooting ability to be a stretch four but also could fill the five role when Simmons goes to the bench.
